Abstract
A removable flood defence unit or flood barrier comprising three parts. A fixed frame 2 which is permanently attached to the wall of a building around a door or window. A removable insert panel 1 slots down into the fixed frame and locks into place sealing the removable flood defence unit, and stopping flood water entering through the doors or windows. One or more fastening elements 3 may be used to lock the panel in place. The panel may be locked into place and sealed by turning at least one locking handle, which turn a locking key in the lock. An edging insert that slots into the fixed frame when the removable insert panel is not in use, keeping the fixed frame free from debris, and looking presentable (Figure 4).
Description
* 2452039 Removable Flood Defence Unit
Description
This invention relates to a removable flood defence unit to protect the doors and windows of buildings. It is a sealing and locking unit that will stop flood water entering a building through doors and windows, to any height requested by a building owner or an insurance company.
With the onset of global warming and wetter weather more floods will be likely with the destruction of billions of pounds worth of property.
My invention overcomes this by protecting all doors and windows with three simple parts, a fixed frame unit, which is attached to the walls and ground around a door frame or window frame. A removable panel unit, which slots into the fixed frame unit creating a sealed waterproof unit to stop flood water, and an edging insert, which slots into the fixed frame unit when the removable flood defence unit is not in use, making all doors and windows free to use as normal. The edging insert slots into the fixed frame unit to stop dirt and debris getting into the grooves in the fixed frame unit, and make the fixed frame unit look neat and tidy.
An example of my invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings Figure 1. shows a cut through view Of the fixed frame unit and the removable insert panel.
Figure 2. shows a frontai view of the fixed frame unit and the removable insert panel for a door Figure 3:shows a side view of the fixed frame unit attached to the wall of a building Figure 4:shows a cut through view of the fixed frame unit and the edging insert Figure 5:shows a frontal view of a fixed frame unit used for a patio window or a window that goes down to ground level Figure & shows a frontal view of a fixed frame unit used for a French door or a window that goes down to ground level Figure 7:shows an angled view of the removable flood defence unit in use.
Figure 8 shows an angled view of the removable flood defence unit not in use.
Figure 1 shows the cut through view of the fixed frame unit I with three prongs and two slots. The prongs and slot contain rubber sealing pads A and the lock C. It also shows a cut through of the removable insert panel with three prongs and two slots, the prongs and slots contain rubber sealing pads A, and the locking key B My invention can use more or less prongs, slots, rubber sealing pads, and locks, and locking keys Figure 2 shows a frontal view of the removable insert panel I with the locking handles 3 and the panel 4 this slots down into the fixed frame unit 2 Ii is locked into place and sealed by turning the locking handles, which turn the locking key in the lock. More or less locking handles can be used, and the size of the unit will vary to fit the door Figure 3 shows a side view of the fbed frame unit 1 attached to the wall of a building 2 around the door frame or window frame, and also attached to the ground 4. It is one sealed unit that surrounds the door frame or window frame attached to the wall and ground also shown is the door tread 3. It also fixes into place around a door step in the same way. It can be made to any height.
Figure 4 shows a cut through view of the edging insert A and the fixed frame unit B the edging insert is used and slots into the fixed frame unit when the removable insert panel is not in use. The edging insert is used to keep the fixed frame unit clean from dirt and debris so when the removable insert panel is used it can slot into place creating a sealed waterproof unit The edging insert also makes the fixed frame unit look presentable, and allows normal use of doors and windows.
Figures 5, 6 shows the fixed frame units for a patio door and a French window or a window that goes to ground Level The removable insert panels are the same as in figure 2 number I. The fixed frame unit can be made in a variety of ways with any number of mid stanchions A to fit any patio door, French window, windows that go Down to the ground, or even around the entire building.
Figure 7 shows the removable flood defence unit A in place protecting the door B or window from flood water, to any height deemed necessary by the building owner or insurance company.
Figure 8 shows the fixed frame unit and edging insert A which leaves the door B or window free to use without difficulty The construction of the slots, prongs and rubber sealing pads makes the removable flood defence unit with the locking system pulling the removable insert panel into the fixed frame water proof The fixed frame can be attached to a building and the ground in a variety of ways, using screws and water proofing seaient.
Claims (1)
- Claims I a removable flood defence unit to protect doors, windows, and buildings against flood water.2 a removable insert panel with permanent fixed frame.3 when not in use the removable insert panel can be easily stored out of the way until it is needed 4when the removable insert panel is not in use the edging insert slots into the fixed frame keeping the slots clear from debris the removable insert panel slots down into the fixed frame and locks into place making it water proof 6 the locking system pulls the removable insert panel into the fixed frame sealing it 7 the removable flood defence unit will be a valuable source of protection for buildings in flood prone areas.8 the removable flood defence unit can be made in a variety of widths, hights, and depths to accomadate any shape and size of doors and windows
