Abstract

A paint roller cleaning device features a casing 1 in which a paint laden roller 7 can be adjustably 9 rotationally mounted, such as on a roller rest 3. A fluid cleaning arrangement, such as a spray bar 2, can eject cleaning fluid tangentially onto the surface of the roller 7, such that it might rotate during cleaning, and eject at least some of the paint centrifugally. The speed of spray may be adjusted to give an optimum spray penetration and roller rotational speed. A measured dose of detergent may be introduced from a detergent dispenser 4. The effluent is discharged at the open lower end of the washer casing 1.

Description

Water powered rapid roller cleaner This invention relates to a very
quick and efficient way of cleaning paint rollers especially for the professional decorator.
When paint rollers are cleaned it involves a protracted application of solvent and water which usually leaves a residue of paint pigment in the roller.
This method injects water as solvent at pressure to the base of the roller material and removes the paint as a solvent mixture by centrifugal action resulting in quick reuse of the roller without colour contamination.
If no detergent is injected; after six or seven minutes the roller can be removed, massaged with a gentler household soap and replaced in washer for a further washing until the effluent runs clear.
The usual overall cleaning treatment time is generally not in excess of minutes.
Procedure Paint laden roller (7) is introduced into washer casing(1) from the bottom and located on the roller rest (3) The water is turned on(5) and the spray bar (2) is adjusted by the register (8) to give optimum spray penetration and roller rotational speed. The effluent is discharged at the open lower end of the washer casing (1). The whole unit being placed in a sink or over foul water drain.

Claims (1)

  1. CLAIMS -) This devise consists of a cylinder of sufficient diameter to
    contain a paint roller, which has been used to appiy a water solvent, or emulsion paint The internal spray bar is adjustable for the angle of spray impingement to the paint roller. This adjustment is for the penetration of water into the roller material, and to induce the roller's rotational speed.
    The paint roller is introduced at the lower edge of the cylinder, which is supported on three attached feet for stability, and to allow the egress of used water. The roller assembly including handle is supported by a shaped rest inside the cylinder and an external support, which retains the roller bearing shaft parallel to the spray bar which is connected to a suitably pressurised water supply. * S.
