Abstract
A measuring device to enable spacing of roofing timbers comprising a T-shape part, and a a sliding rail part secured via locking nut or handle. The T-shape part carries an L section fitted at 90 degrees, as does the sliding rail part.
Description
Measuring Device The invention relates to a measuring device to enable
quick and easy spacings of roofing timbers or other related measuring/spacing applications.
Spacings are usually obtained by means of a simple tape measure but problems arise when the tradesperson needs to nail or fix portions of materials i.e. roof battens and hold the measure, hammer or nail gun and roofing fixing battens while actually fixing.
Well known to be the cause of frustrations with traditional tape measures is that when said measure is placed down the locking latch comes loose and the tape recoils rapidly causing the tape measure to roll away, or the tradesperson attempts to perform three functions using two hands. Therefore, the object of the invention is to overcome these problems by means of an easily locked length device, which leaves a free hand to do the fixing.
Accordingly the device comprises of a T' shape, with an upside down L' section, which is fitted at 900 across the top of the T.' This L' section provides the first positive anchorage point, which the tradesperson may hold against the piece to be fixed. The leg of the T' is slotted to enable another piece of folded or shaped piece at 90 , to slide up or down the leg and be locked into place at the required spacing.
The device may be made of any suitably rigid material with measurement graduations marked on the leg to facilitate quick and easy measurement spacing.
Claims (2)
- Claims 1. A measuring device comprising of a sliding rail section witha locking nut or handle, which will allow different length measurements.
- 2. The device will enable the trade person to rapidly measure spacings prior to fixing.
