Abstract

A high level camera mount which permits a camera to be lowered to pedestrian height and subsequently raised back to operating height is disclosed. The mount may comprise a camera arm to which the camera is mounted. An access arm may be provided, which allows an operative to disengage primary and secondary locks on the camera arm (Fig. 1) and lower the camera arm (Fig. 2). Gas struts may be charged as the camera arm is lowered, and an in-built lock may hold the camera arm at pedestrian height. When the camera arm is no longer required at pedestrian height, the in-built lock may be disengaged, the camera arm may return to its operating height using the action of the gas struts, and the primary and secondary locks may be engaged (Fig.3).

Description

Four Square Camera Arm This invention relates to a device for enabling
high level CCTV cameras and other simHar devices to be lowered to pedestrian height for cleaning and maintenance without disengaging the device from its mountings/connections.
To clean or maintain CCTV cameras on London Underground platforms and other similar locations requires the erection of access towers so that operators can climb up to access the camera. Therefore, for each camera the access tower requires building up and dismantling for approximately 1 minutes cleaning.
Health & Safety Risk Assessments dictates that access towers can only be erected on platforms when the trains are not operating, therefore this task has to be conducted during the short period of the night.
As trains pass through a station every three minutes the camera must not be out of action for more than three minutes during normal day working. Therefore, the lowering cleaning and raising must be conducted within the three minutes.
This invention eliminates the need for access towers as it permits the camera to be lowered to pedestrian height and by reference to the attached drawings the invention can be described:-INFO -0001 Shows the operative with the access arm located in the secondary lock.
1St shows the rotation required to disengage the secondary lock.
2' shows the action to disengage the primary lock 3rd shows the rotation required to disengage the primary lock 4th shows the pull action required to lower the Camera Arm INFO -0002 Shows the Camera Arm lowered in position to permit the cleaning or maintenance at pedestrian height. In lowering the Camera Arm gas struts are being charged.
When lowered an in built lock engages to hold the arm at Pedestrian Height.
INFO -0003 Shows the Camera Arm being returned to its operating position.
1st shows the Camera Arm being pulled permit the built in lock to be disengaged.
shows the lock being disengaged and the Camera Arm then rises to its operational position using the action of the gas struts.
3rd shows the primary lock being engaged.
4th shows the secondary lock being engaged 2.

Claims (2)

  1. Claims Four Square Camera Arm 1. The invention eliminates the need for
access towers to be used for deaning! maintenance of high level CCIV Cameras as with the device permits the camera to be lowered to pedestrian height and subsequent raising back to operating height
  2. 2. The invention has proven in trials to be easily disengaged, lowered, camera cleaned, raised and engaged in position well within the 3 mInute time requirement Therefore, the cleaning/maintenance can be conducted during normal working hours.
