Description

Attachable Pencil/Pen This invention relates to a device that attaches

a pencil or pen to a user.

When making a mark or writing a note, many people find themselves misplacing their pencil or pen before or afler this act. Other problems which can occur include dropping a pencil or pen and not being able to easily retrieve it. Both of these issues largely result in an inconvenience for the user, as well as the potential financial cost of replacing the pencil or pen. To overcome these problems, the present invention proposes an attachable pencil/pen unit with attachment means for attaching a pencil or pen directly (to a retractable reel) or indirectly (to a retractable reel via a lanyard/wrist lanyard strap) to a user.

The retractable reel is attached to the user directly using a clip with a built in clip-release mechanism, enabling the user to detach the lanyard/wrist lanyard strap from the retractable reel to provide unrestricted use of the pencil or pen.

The lanyard/wrist lanyard strap 3 is connected to a retractable reel 5 via clip 6. The retractable reel then attaches to a user through clip 7.

Figure 2 shows the specific function of clip 7 within an attachable pencil/pen unit. Clip 7 is attached to a user by securely fastening to a belt loop or other any other means, using a built in hinge mechanism.

As shown in Figure 3, once clip 7 is securely fastened, a user is able to extend the nylon cord 8 to make a mark or write a note using a pencil or pen.

Tension in a lanyard/wrist lanyard strap cord tie 4, results in the tightening of a rubber grip 2 to the barrel of a pencil or pen, as depicted in Figure 4.

Figure 5 demonstrates a pencil/pen unit facilitating unrestricted use of a pencil or pen during use, through detaching the lanyard/wrist lanyard strap 3 from the retractable reel 5. A user opens clip 6 in order to release the lanyard/wrist lanyard strap 3.

Claims (3)

1. An attachable pencil/pen unit comprising of attachment means for attaching a pencil or pen directly (to a retractable reel) or indirectly (to a retractable reel via a lanyard/wrist lanyard strap) to a user.

2. An attachable pencil/pen unit in which the means of attachment to a lanyard/wrist lanyard strap is provided through the use of a rubber grip secured over the barrel of a pencil or pen, via a lanyard/wrist lanyard strap cord tie.

3. A lanyard/wrist lanyard strap unit according to claim 2 with a means of attachment to

a retractable reel.
