Abstract

A rechargeable deodoriser unit 4 is attached to the internal surface of a wheelie bin. In particular, the top surface 11 of the unit may be attached to the underside of the hinged lid of the bin. The unit may be charged with a packet of deodorizing granules through a hinged opening 5, which is opened and closed by a simple locking catch 6. The unit is vented on the bottom surface 7, front surface 8 and side surfaces 9 and 10 to allow the deodorising granules to draw the odours from the wheelie bin.

Description

Specification
Wheelie Bin Deodoriser This invention relates to a device for neutralising odours that may be present within a wheelie bin arising for example from food waste that has been inadequately wrapped.
When food waste is placed inside a wheelie bin it may result in the production of smells and odours caused by rotting and decomposing food. The wheelie bin will have a hinged lid which will retain the odour however when the lid is lifted the odour is evident to the user. At present people remove this odour by regularly washing out the bin after it has been emptied. There is no item available to fit inside the wheelie to provide continuous deodonsing whilst the bin is in use. To overcome these problems this invention consists of a vented unit which is fixed to the under side of the wheelie bin lid or any other internal bin surface. The unit contains a vented packet containing deodorising granules which soak up the odours thus neutralising and deodorising the wheelie bin.
The unit is fixed to the underside of the wheelie bin lid or any other internal surface.
The unit has a hinged opening with locking catch so that the packet of deodorising granules can be changed When required.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a possible fixing location within the wheelie bin however any internal surface can be utilised for fixing the unit.
Figure 2 shows the deodorising unit.
Figure 3 shows the packaged deodorising granules In Figure 1, the wheelie bin I is shown with the lid 2 in the raised position in order to give an example of a possible fixing position 3.
In Figure 2, the deodorising unit 4 is shown with the hinged opening 5, which is opened and closed by a simple locking catch 6. The unit is vented on the bottom surface 7 front surface 8 as well as the two side surfaces 9 & 10 to allow the deodonsing granules to draw the odours from the wheelie bin. The top surface 11 is used to attach the unit to the internal surface of the wheelie bin.
In figure 3, the packaged deodorising granules 12 are sized to fit within the deodonsing unit allowing ease of placement and replacement as well as allowing the unit closing catch to secure the package within the unit.
