Abstract

A fixed, wall-mounted battery charger has a pull-out wire 2 and voltage selector 1 for various outputs. The end plug of the pull-out wire may be able to accept different sockets (figure 1) to suit many devices. When charging is completed the wire may recoil back into the wall unit by use of a spring/ friction operated reel/ drum (figures 1,5,6). The battery charger may also come with a 2 or 3 pin plug socket in a combination unit (B). There may be two or more chargers in the same unit. The charger may be fully or partly countersunk. The part-countersunk charger ( figure 6) will fit into an existing plug socket cavity and the fully countersunk charger (figure 5), may require a deeper cavity.

Description

Description
Battery Charger This invention relates to a device for charging battery's for mobile phones -lap tops-cameras etc. All mobile phones etc. come with there own charger which is often hard to find and when found is most likely tangled up with eveiy other charger in the household, and imagine how many chargers are lost and left behind when travelling.
To overcome this the present invention proposes to be a permanent wall mounted socket type battery charger with a spring loaded drum to recoil the wire when not in use as well as a voltage selector so that it will be capable of charging most portable! mobile devices.
The advantages of this invention is that it will do away with the need for many different portable chargers, you will never have to look for a charger and you will never have a knot of chargers in a birds nest of wire again.
As well as having a voltage selector to choose a range of out-put voltages this charger would be capable of accepting different devices (figure 1) and so enable you to charge all devices from one fixed point with 220-240 volt input.
The recoiling wire drum would be spring loaded or friction so that when all the wire has been fully pulled out of the charger the recoiling spring will be fully wound and ready to recoil, to prevent this from happening when not required to do so a stop start slot break system as shown in (figure 2) can be used, the same as in my patent specification for cuckoo 2 1/4/07.
Different versions of this charger will be that it can incorporate 2 and 3 pm plug sockets in the same unit as show in (figure 3/B) and (figure 4,A) to suit most European countries as well as a double or treble chargers as shown in (figure 4,8) or by itself (figure 3,A) Other versions are that the charger unit can be made to be sunk fully into the wall (figure 5) with only the face plate showing with voltage selector and pull out wire, this version may be best suited for new build walls as the inners maybe to bulky to fit into a cavity left by removing an existing socket or a charger as shown in (figure 6) this shows how part of the converter and recoiling drum would be housed in a moulded box on the face of the unit with the rest of the inners small enough to fit into an existing cavity allowing you to easily remove an existing plug socket and replace it with a 2 charger or charger! plug socket unit The sockets to couple with the wire-end plug Figure 1) van be made and sold as a set or separately so you can buy only the ones you need. A single battery charger unit will be made to the standard size of a single plug socket and a double charger unit or charger! plug socket combination unit made to the standard size of a double plug socket and so on
Introduction to drawings
Figure 1 Shows how the socket on the pull-out wire will connect to various sockets to suit many different devices.
Figure 2 Shows a stop and slot method to prevent the wire from recoiling when not required to do so.
Figure 3 (A) Shows the face of the charger unit with voltage selector (1) and end plug on pull out wire (2), (B) shows charger and 3 pin plug socket in same unit.
Figure 4 (A) shows charger and 2 pin socket in same unit, (13) multiple chargers in same unit.
Figure 5 Shows fully sunk charger unit fitted into wall A-voltage selector B-Wire recoiling drum spring loaded or friction C-face plate D-Wire feed hole and slot E-Converter and works F-Wire end plug G-mains wire Figure 6 Shows how a combination unit of charger and plug socket can be made to fit into space provided by removing existing plug sockets if cavity is not deep enough for the fully counter sunk version A-moulded housing B-voltage selector C-converter and other works D-spring loaded recoiling drum E-wire feed hole and slot F-wire end plug 0-face plate H-plug socket I-wall screws J-mains wires
