Abstract
The invention relates to a fixing bracket for a ridge tile, hip tile, coping stone or a slate. The fixing bracket comprises a base plate 1, a stem 2 attached to the base plate, a compression or crimped fitting 5 locatable on the stem and a rectangular, semi-circular or angular washer 3 held in place by the compression or crimped fitting, wherein the base plate and stem can be produced in a continuous strip. The compression or crimped fitting and washer may be integral with each other or kept as separate items. The stem may be serrated to provide a surface on which the compression or crimped fitting may grip. The base plate and stem when produced in a continuous length may be cut to the required length. Later embodiments relate to a fixing device comprising a hollow inverted angular section base plate (8 figure 4) into which a stem can be located and held in place; and a fixing device in which semi-circular or angular washers or clips can comprise lugs, locatable under the ends of the ridge or hip tiles.
Description
Ridge, hip, tile, coping stone or slate tie.
This invention relates to a tie for the fixing ridge tiles, coping stones or slates.
Ridge tiles coping stones and slates have no fixings or ties to hold them in place.
And ridge tiles and coping stones just rely on the mortar to hold them in place, ridge tiles can easily be displaced in high winds and coping stones easily come loose with any movement, there are no fixing for the replacement of broken slates or in the laying of knew slates.
These ties provide a means to hold ridge tiles coping stones Or slates in place.
The invention will now described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Fig I shows a view of the tie with the different compression washers.
Fig 2 shows a view of the tie holding down a ridge tile or coping stone, Fig 3 shows a view of the tie if it is produced in a continuous strip and a compression slate tie.
Fig 4 shows of a continuous base plate being hollow, with inverted angular section into which the stem 9 can be inserted and located by means of the cut outs in the stem 9 In figure I a base plate 1 has a stem 2 the stem can be attached to the base plate.
and be plain or as shown 2 serrated, 6 is the base plate which can be used as a saddle to be nailed or screwed to the sides of the ridge or hip.3 are the washer and compression fitting which can be combined as in 3 or separate as in 5, the washers can be profiled to Suit the various tile contours or fiat when used for coping stones,4 shows a crimped fixing which could be used in place of a compression fitting, all ties and fittings to be made of none ferrous materials.
Fig 2 shows a view of the tie holding down ridge tiles or coping stones fixed to hip ridge or brickwork 1,2,3, Fig 3 is a view 1,2, of the tie if it were produced as a continuous strip to be cut off at the required lengths, 7 is a compression or crimped fitting With elongated side to fix slates.
Fig 4 is a view of the tie 9, which inserts into a continuous strip,8, being hollow with inverted angular section, into which the stem 9 having cut out sections can be Located and held in place, the strip can be nailed OT screwed down, to ridge or hip.
Fig 4 3a and 3b show the semi circular or triangular washer or clip with tugs at each end to locate under the ends or edges of the ridge tile.
Ridge tiles and coping stones could have indents in them so that the washer is flush fitting at the top.
It is appreciated that the embodiments of the invention described above Have been given by way of example only and that modifications can be affected.
