Abstract
An arrangement by which a user of a mobile telephone can create and update data in the telephone memory and/or remote computer with a connection to the internet includes the use of: voice recognition software, personal information management (PIM) software, business application software, and the internet and / or mobile telephone network. The user may speak an instruction into the telephone microphone to create or update records stored in the telephone memory or a detachable data storage medium. The records may trigger timed events managed by the personal information management software or business application software. The detection of keywords is used to direct the data to an appropriate software application. Data may be synchronised with other devices e.g. personal computer. The data may constitute discrete records, an appointment in a diary for example, or may be instructions to perform a task, such as to order materials from a building site. It is anticipated that users of the system will be people who are away from their base computer and who need to enter data to that computer quickly and easily. These may not want to carry a lap-top or notebook computer, or it may not be practical to do so.
Description
Patent Application Title: Data updated and created in a computer by
voice recognition system in a mobile telephone transmitting instruction via the internet and cellular telephone system
Description and Specification
The purpose (the Function) of the system being proposed in this submission is to provide a quick means of entering data (the Data) into a computer system, by using software in a mobile telephone.
The software will consist of voice recognition software, internet protocols, personal information software (PIM) and any other software required to perform the Function. This collection of software will henceforth be referred to as the System.
The Data may constitute discrete records, an appointment in a diary for example, or may be instructions to perform a task, such as to order materials for a building site.
The user speaks the instruction into the mobile telephone, either directly or via a headset. The System will detect key words and phrases in order to best direct the information being received.
Example: creating a diary appointment * Scenario: the user of the System is a self-employed electrician (the User) who is currently on-site at a contract. The user requires to make a telephone call to a customer, who will be available at 2 o'clock the next day.
* Process: the User starts to speak into the mobile telephone and says "Reminder;, phone Mr Jones at 2pm tomorrow", the voice recognition element of the System is running continually on the mobile telephone and processes : ... the speech as follows: * Key word "Reminder" -the System recognises this keyword as signifying a diary entry and so processes the following speech accordingly, specifically, the item is a diary entry that requires a * : reminder to be delivered to the User.
* Key words "2pm tomorrow" -the System identifies "2pm" as the start * * time of the diary entry and "tomorrow" is converted to a calendar date, which represents the date of the diary entry.
* The remaining speech is processed as the description of the diary entry.
* The diary entry is created in the PIM software of the mobile telephone. The System transmits the diary entry, via the internet, to the User's base computer. On the base computer, the System software client will create a diary entry in the User's PIM software.
* When the User is in the office the next day, the PIM software on the base computer will remind him / her of the telephone call. * S * *.*

- Patent Application Title: Data updated and created in a computer byvoice recognition system in a mobile telephone transmitting instruction via the internet and cellular telephone system Claims 1. A means by which the user of a mobile telephone (cellular telephone) can create and update data in the telephone memory and / or a remote computer with a connection to the internet, employing voice recognition software, personal information management software, business applications software, the internet and / or the cellular telephone network.
- 2. A system according to claim 1, whereby a user of a mobile telephone may speak instruction into the telephone microphone to create or update records stored in the telephone memory or detachable data storage medium, where these records may trigger timed events managed by personal information management software or business applications software.
- 3. A system according to claim 1, whereby a user of a mobile telephone may speak instruction into the telephone microphone to create or update records stored in the memory or detachable data storage medium of a remote computer, via the internet and / or cellular telephone network, where these records may trigger timed events managed by personal information management software or business applications software.
- 4. Voice recognition software according to claims 2 and 3, which will detect key words that will then be used to direct the data to the appropriate application software.
- 5. Personal Information Management software according to claims 1 and 2, installed on the cellular telephone, the data and records of which can be created or updated by the voice recognition software according to claim 4...
