Abstract

A kit which aims to reduce a smoker's dependence on nicotine over a period of time and eventually stop smoking without experiencing severe symptoms of withdrawal has a series of cigarette holders or quit tips 5 provided with one or more air inlet holes 6. The holes 6 admit ambient air into the smoke stream to dilute the smoke before inhalation. Each successive quit tip in the kit is provided with one more air inlet hole than the preceding tip. Alternatively, each quit tip may have a single air inlet hole but the diameter of that hole increases with each successive tip in the kit. By replacing the quit tip with another having a greater number of air inlet holes, thereby progressively increasing the amount of air admitted into the smoke stream, the user can reduce the percentage of nicotine inhaled from each cigarette over a period of time. A reusable version of the quit tip would enable users to form the holes themselves by drilling or punching. The quit tip may be made from plastic or hardened card. The material may be clear so that the build up of tar deposits is visible to the user.

Description

Smokers quit kit program page 1 This invention relates to a device for
the smokers quit kit program.
When an individual decides to quit smoking they are faced with a large market of products and devices to help them with their addiction such as patches, gums, sprays and medications.
There are also other nicotine withdrawel devices that are designed to lower the consumption of chemicals from smoking.
However, these products can be quite expensive and the cost is sometimes prohibitive for people who are trying to quit.
The design of these devices can be complex and hard to manufacture and expensive to produce.
The smokers quit program is simple and easy to manufacture as it does not involve complex tubing or tube in a tube layout.
The biggest hurdle a smoker must overcome is not only the cravings/addiction of smoking but also the sensation of smoking.
These products fail to give the smoker the needs he had filled with a cigarette such as taste and the action of smoking.
The ones that do are too complex to build on a mass production leval.
The smoker must not only get over their addiction for cigarettes but also adjust their system to getting used to another product that also contains nicotine.
The smoker needs to reduce there intake over a set time and at a pace they feel they can control that shall help them quit.
To overcome this, the present invention proposes the smokers quit kit program that shall lower the nicotine intake over a period of time using the cigarettes the individual Would normally smoke.
This is a simple and easy to manufacture product for all smokers who wish to quit smoking for good.
The smokers quit kit program is flexible, so that smokers can adapt the Program to their individual needs and nicotine cravings.
The main component of the smokers quit kit program would be the reducer quit tips, which would be designed to fit over the end of the smokers cigarette.
The reducer quit kit tips of this program work by slowly decreasing the amount of Cigarette smoke that is actually inhaled by the smoker thereby decreasing the amount of nicotine that enters the smokers system over a given period of time.
page 2 This is done by having a hole in the quit tip that allows the vacuum process that is used in smoking to be broken and reduce the intake of each cigarette by a small amount.
The quit tip program would start with a single hole and the user would work there way through the range of holes. (seperate tips) Smokers would gradually work there way through the different amount of holes within the smokers quit tip range reducing the nicotine intake with each packet of cigarettes.
With one hole in the quit tip there shall be an unnoticed droo in the nicotine levels.
By week two when the second hole is introduced and the level of nicotine dropped further, their bodies would have adapted to the previous drop and will not notice the second small drop in nicotine.
This is known as small steps.
As the indevidual works through each tip, the reduction in the nicotine shall be increased with each new hole in the next filter in the smokers quit tip range.
Smokers would work there way through the different stages of the reducer tips at there own pace until reaching a tip with around six holes.
There dependency on nicotine will be so low that quitting will be a lot easier.
With smokers quit kit, the smoker does not need to go cold turkey as they can gradually reduce there nicotine intake over time.
Page 3 Smokers quit kit has been designed as an inexpensive, yet effective method of helping people to stop smoking.
Since the smoker is using their own cigarettes as a way of reducing nicotine withdrawal, the smokers quit kit is a much more cost-effective method to quit smoking.
the smoker still has the same sensation with smoking but the dependency is being slowly withdrawn.
With every week that passes and with the introduction of a new hole to the quit tip range the nicotine level taken in shall drop by a percentage each week.
This will continue until the smoker reaches a level were they feel confident enough to give up smoking totally with the major part of the withdrawal symptoms removed.
Another approach would be to have a single hole that can be expanded.
This would reduce the intake of nicotine in the same way but use a larger hole with each step instead of multiple holes.
Preferably, the quit kit shall either contain a reusable quit tip, or a disposable quit tip.
Preferably, the product should be made from plastic or a hardened card.
Preferably, each kit shall contain one or two of each step of the quit tip range inicuding holes from one to six with more holes available should the user require more help.
Preferably, the user shall quit smoking at any point of the quit tip range that the indevidual feels ready and able to do so.
Preferable, the smokers quit tip shall be constructed from a clear material so the user shall notice the build up of tar within the quit filter and from this feel more inspired to quit as they can see the result smoking has on the clear quit tip and shall have a reminder each time they light up.
Preferably, A smaller unit for hand rolled cigerattes be introduced along with this range.
page 4 An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the Accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows the action of a normal cigarette when in use by a smoker.
Figure 2 shows the same cigarette with the quit tip fitted to the filter end of the cigarette and shows the initial hole located on the surface and shall be the first this step in reducing the intake of nicotine taken in by the body.
Figure 3 shows how the introduction of a second hole reduces more still the amount of nicotine taken in.
Figure 4 Shows how the shall apear when not attached to a cigeratte.
In figure 1 we can see a standard cigarette I with a filter 2 that uses air flow 4 drawn down its shaft into the filter 2 and drawn out 3 into the smoker.
In figure 2 the quit tip 5 is attached to the end of the cigarette filter 2 and the quit tip 5 shall become the new mouthpiece, replacing the filter 2 When the smoker inhaled or took a draw on the cigarette air would travel through the cigarette I and air through the hole/s in the quit tip 6.
The nicotine value 3 that is released from the quit tip shall 5 shall be reduced giving a decrease in the nicotine intake.
This is due to the break in the air flow / vacuum process 3 that cigarettes use.
This process shall be further used with each following quit tips with further holes introduced.
Figure 3 shows the introduction of a second hole 7 to further reduce the nicotine intake.
The more holes the less smoke the smoker will inhale 3.
This shall further break the the air flow process 4 and reduce the level another small amount.
Smokers would gradually work there way through the different amount of holes Reducing the nicotine intake 3 with each packet of cigarettes.
Smokers would work there way through the different stages of the reducer tips 5 at there own pace until reaching a tip with around six holes.
Figure 4 shows how the initial quit tip 5 would look when not attached to the cigarette I and shows the shape and idea to the product and how the hole 6 The other tips in the quit tip program would be the same but with additional holes.
Figure 5 shows what the first three stages would look like, increasing in numbers.
These would be the first stages of the quit kit program with more holes to follow to complete the quit process.

Claims (7)

  1. oage 5 claims 1. A small tube that has internal dimensions a little
smaller than the filter tip of a cigarette and with a small hole that shall be located just off centre with its length a little longer than the filter tip and shall be the first step in the quit tip range with the rest of the quit tips having one more hole each time for further reducing the nicotine intake at a slow rate and over a time to suit the person quiting.
  2. 2. A cigarette shall be pushed into a tube with the filter tip being pushed about half its length into the tube leaving half the length of the tube void.
  3. 3. The void end of the tube shalt replace the filter tip as the part that enters the mouth And all the nicotine and other chemicals shall travel down the length of this tube before entering the body.
  4. 4. The void end tube shall have a small hole half way down its length for air to be drawn in and break the vacuum in a small way.
  5. 5. These holes shall be increased by one hole each time by either replacing the quit tip With another tip that has more than one hole or punching or drilling another hole next to the existing hole i.e. re-usable quit tip.
  6. 6. The holes break the vacuum more with the introduction of each hole and hence reduce the chemicals entering the bloodstream at a manageable, controlled and a rate that is not noticed by the smoker who wilt not feel the reduction over the time period.
  7. 7.The reduction shall be done over a period of time such as ten-week program with a new hole being introduced each week and the body then given that week to adjust to the new lower levels of chemicals.
