Abstract

A nose net for use on ponies or horses is made from two layers of white fine meshed fabric net. The device is in a tubular form with four short ties E for attachment to the horse's headcollar. In use, the net is longer at the front and shorter at the back allowing the horse to eat and drink with the net in position. The double layered fine mesh allows for pollen grains to be filtered out of the air that the horse breathes. The device also serves to protect the muzzle against sunburn.

Description

TheDescription 2447840
Dual Puroose Eciuine Nose Net Background: Although there are several makes of nose net on the market Currently many are designed only to be used whilst the horse/pony is ridden and the mesh on the netting is generally too course to prevent pollen from being inhaled. However, this is a ai Pumose Nose Net which can be worn by the horse/pony whilst out grazing, so the horse/pony can benefit from pollen reduction nearly all day 4jt also protects against sunburn on the nose and muzzle area.
Features: Two layers of white, fine meshed, nylon net are used to make the Nose Net and it is this fine mesh which allows large particles of pollen to be filtered, and, working with the condensation from the horse/pony's breath dust and pollen remains stuck to the net until it is rinsed off after each use. In addition, because the net is white it reflects much of the sun, the fineness of the mesh can also help to prevent sunburn on the nose and its tubular design means that the muzzle can also be protected.
The Nose Net can be attached to a horse/pony's headcollar at four points by short ties, one to the noseband, one at the back of the headcollar where the leadrope clips on and by the two buckles at either side of the headcollar. The net is longer at the front to cover the nose and muzzle and shorter at the back to prevent the horse/pony treading on it whilst grazing. Additional stitching in the back seam allows the Nose Net to be cut to size to adjust the fitting for each horse/pony.
Introduction to the Drawjng
Diagram I shows the Nose Net from a side-on view. It is tubular with a single seam at the back. The extra length at the front to cover the nostrils and the shorter drop at the back to prevent the net being trodden on. The ties are situated at the front and back and on either side just behind the midway point The ties labelled x, y and z attach to any standard headcollar at the points marked in diagram 2.
A the entire Nose Net is made from two layers of fine white net B the front of the Nose Net is longer than the back (C) C the back of the Nose Net is shorter than the front (B) D many short lengths of stitching on the back seam (C) of the Nose Net mean that the net can be cut to size to give a good fit on any horse/pony without the seam unravelling.
E four sets of cotton ties indication of line taken for cutting to make the net shorter if required.
X front set of ties Y 2 x middle set of ties (one on each side of the Nose Net) Z back set of ties Diagram 2 shows a horse/pony's head and headcollar with the corresponding attachment points x, y & z marked for the ties (E).

Claims (11)

  1. The Claims 1. A nose net for use on horses/ponies which is made from
two layers of white, fine-meshed, nylon net and has 4 sets of fabric ties which should be used to attach the nose net to any standard horse/pony headcollar.
  2. 2. A nose net as claimed in Claim I which is dual ourpose nose net which can help filter some pollen can protect against sunburn on the nose and muzzle area.
  3. 3. A nose net as claimed in Claim I or 2 which is designed so that it may be worn by the horse whilst out grazing.
  4. 4. A nose net as in any preceding Claims which, due to its fine meshed net, filters large particles of pollen.
  5. 5. A nose net as in Claim 4 which works with the condensation from the horse/pony's breath making the net damp to further trap dust and pollen which sticks to the net until it is rinsed off each use.
  6. 6. A nose net as in Claim lwhich because the net is white reflects some of the suns rays and the fineness of the mesh can help to prevent sunburn on the nose.
  7. 7. A nose net as in Claim 6 whose tubular design means that the horse/pony's muzzle can also be protected from the sun.
  8. 8. A nose net as claimed in any preceding Claim can be attached to a horse's headcollar at four points by short ties, one to the noseband, and one at the back of the headcollar where the leadrope clips on and by the two buckles at either side of the headcollar.
  9. 9. A nose net as claimed in any preceding Claim for which the front is longer to cover the nose and muzzle and shorter at the back to prevent the horse treading on it.
  10. 10. A nose net as claimed in any preceding claim which has additional stitching in the back seam to allow the nose net to be cut to size to adjust the fitting.
  11. 11. A nose net as claimed in any preceding claim as herein described above and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
