Abstract

A visible indicator 5 for fasteners such as nuts or bolts in comprises indicator means by which a loss of tension in the fastener can be seen visually. The indicator 5 may use colour, shape or texture and may be seen via remote means such as by camera or computer. The indicator 5 may be particularly used in railway applications.

Description

Safety Vision Locknut Indicator The Safety Vision Locknut Indicator
identifies when locknuts on Railway Track become loose. The Safety Vision Locknut Indicator will enable at a glance when conducting periodic inspections to see visually if the locknuts have moved. The shape of the top when aligned will enable Computer Vision including but not limited to Camera Vision and laser-based rail inspection systems to easily recognise any movements of the Safety Vision Locknut Indicator. If the locknut becomes loose the Locknut Indicator will spin round and can be seen and detected by including but not limited to Camera vision and R.F. LD tags. The Safety Vision Locknut Indicator top can be produced in various shapes including but not limited to rectangle, square and round to help computer recognition. The Locknut indicator maybe coloured and textured to help computer recognition. The Locknut Indicator positioned to the top or at an angle that the Camera vision may be able to best receive image. The two Locknut Indicators shown in Figs 2,3 and 4 are not joined together however they may be extended and releasably secured together including but not limited to studs bolting and clips as shown in *: ::* Fig 5, 5 and 6. The materials used for manufacture are various including but not limited to plastic and metal.
* A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings.
S S..
* Referring to the accompanying drawing as shown in :.:::. FIG 1 Show Plan view with no Lock Nut Indicator Fitted. Railway Track 1, Tie Bar 2 locking Nuts 3 and adjustment nut 4 *.S * . FIG 2 Show Plan view with Lock Nut Indicator fitted 5 FIG 3 Shows Side view Lock Nut Indicator S fitted into position at top or slight angle FIG 4 Shows Sides View Lock Nut Indicator S turned to bottom showing that the nut is not tight. Can be visually seen and monitored by including but not limited to Camera Vision.
FIG 5 Shows the Lock Nut Indicator releasably secured together.
FIG 6 Shows side view of Locknut Indicator removed and dismantled including but not limited to stud 8 and hole 7 shown which releasably secures together FIG 6 Shows side view of Locknut Indicator with aperture shown 9 is included but limited to the shape and size shown. This allows the Locknut Indicator to be turned on the locking nut to the top or at an angle that the Camera vision may be able to best receive image.
