Abstract

A sling for use with a rifle comprises a series of blocks. In use the sling can be used by the user to carry the associated rifle or can be adjusted by moving so as to encourage the blocks to interact, thereby changing its function from sling to rifle rest. The sling, only being capable of moving in one way, twists through 180 degrees so as to allow the blocks to lock together under gentle pressure, forming a rigid rest.

Description

RIFLE SUNG REST page I.
BACKGROUND
To shoot accurately a rifle has to have a good bread rest. Usually this is achieved by a log or raised grotnid etc, but these rests are not always available especiafly when a quick shot needs to be taken.
So many shooters use cross sticks or bipods which can be fitted to the rifle. En this case you either have something extra to carry or a mechanism oonnected to your rifle, both of which encumber the shooter. I set out to make a rest from the carrying sting which every shooter has connected to his rifle anyway.
STAIEMENT OF INVENTION
The rifle sling rest is a very basic but effective answer to this problem, by fixing thin plastic blocks to the forend side of the sling then turning by 180 degrees the blocks lock together under the forend producing an instant solid rest.
ADVANTAGES
The advantages over the bipod and sticks are, you do not have to curry any exun gear.11w blocks that make ft diflisent from a conventional sling do not make ft awkward,if any thing they help to give the sling a non sup advantage when on the shoulder.
Ashriple 180 degree twist of the sling when you get into position to fire Is all that Is needed to make the rifle rest. A bipod on the other hand has to be erected and positioned.
INSTRUCTION TO DRAWING
Figure I shows the simple moving parts that make this rest possible.
Figure 2 shows the sling in carrying position and how the blocks fall open to fit snug around the shoulder as a normal sling would.
Figure 3 shows the sling in rifle rest position with the sling twisted through 180 degrees and forward pressore applied by the shooter the blocks lock into position creating an Ideal quick rest Figure 4 shows how versatile this rest can be, raised or lowered on the blocks to suit the situation.
DESCRIPTION
It is important that the four blocks are attached to the sling solidly so the sling can only bend one way. The sling needs to be able to bend when carrying the rifle oo your shoulder. When getting into a position for a shot the forend hand readies forward to the blocks and twists the sling through 180 degrees this locks the blocks together, as long as genUs pressure is present if the rest is to high the pressure can be lessoned and the rest allowed to drop down a block or two until the desired height Is achieved. After the shot is taken end you get to your feet the rest simply twists and falls back to its natural flexible sling position.

Claims (1)

  1. Rifle sling that can also be used as a rifle reg, with no detriment to the sting and its function as a sling The simple use of small thin blocks fitted to the sling in such a manner that can effortlessly and quickly twn a sling into an effictive adjustable rifle rest then can simply fill back into its function as a shag.
