Abstract

An interchangeable safety cap for scaffolding that covers the end of a scaffolding tube or a scaffolding clip bolt to prevent personnel and public from being injured should they have any direct contact with the end of the scaffolding tube or scaffolding clip bolt. The cap is preferably domed shaped and externally fluted to provide a suitable hand grip to allow the cap to be easily positioned and removed by the user. To assist the positioning and removal of the cap over the end of a scaffolding tube, the cap has wedged shaped fins around the interior wall of the cap. To allow the cap to be detachably secured to the bolt and bolt of a scaffolding clip bolt, a tube with a hexagonal shaped end extends from the interior of the cap and accommodates the nut and the bolt projecting through the nut of the scaffolding clip bolt. Preferably the cap is made from non-flammable plastic and may be coloured in bright day glow colours.

Description

* 2446477 Descrif ion Interchangeable Safety Ca End for Scaffolding
Tube and Clip The cap end is designed to cover both tube end and clip bolt to prevent personnel and public from possible injury.
Injury can occur from direct impact with unguarded tube or clip bolts or from cuts and scrapes with badly cut ends.
It is designed to be re-usable, quick fitting, maintenance free, with no moving parts; the unique fluted and finned body allows the flexibility to ease removal of cap from the tube end for reuse. A prototype has been assembled and proved to fulfil both tube end and clip bolt functions.
Made from non flammable moulded plastic it should be long lived and can be coloured in bright day glow colours which would help define and outline scaffolding. Company colours or logo could be incorporated into the design to personalise or identify cap end ownership.
Cap in Scaffolding Tube End Safety Mode The design of the external fluted body is to provide a suitable hand grip for ease of removal from the tube end without damage for multiple reuse; the domed end is designed to cushion any direct impact injury which may occur -see Drawing Sheet 1 Figures 1 and 2.
The design of Ihe infernal wedge shaped fins is to ease the positioning and fitting on to the tube end. See Drawing Sheet 2 Figures 3 and 4.
The combination of the fluted body and wedge shaped internal fins allows the flexibility for ease of removal while maintaining a secure hold when in place as a safety end cap end.
Descri tion Ca In Scaffolding Cli Safety Mode The design of the internal tube with the hexagon shaped end allows the tube cap to perform the dual function now in the scaffold clip mode, the hollow tube now with straight sides to aid extrusion during manufacture accommodates f he bolt body projection allowing the hexagon end to fit over the nut ensuring a secuie fit and protection from and impact injury from contact with the protruding bolt -See...

Claims (2)

  1. Claims L The interchangeable safety cap for scaffolding is designed to
cover both the scaffold tube end and the scaffold clip bolt to prevent personnel and public from possible injury.
  2. 2 The domed shaped cap end is designed to cushion any direct impact injury.
The design of the external fluted body is to provide a suitable hand grip for ease of removal without damage for multiple reuse as a scaffold tube end cap or scaffold clip safety cap.
The design of the internal wedge shaped fins is to ease the positioning and fitting on the scaffold tube end.
The combination of the fluted and finned body gives the cap the flexibility to ease the removal from the scaffold tube end while maintaining a secure hold when in place as a safety cap end.
The design of the internal tube with the hexagon shaped end allows the scaffold tube end cap to perform its other role as a scaffold clip safety cap.
    Z. The hollow tube with straight sides to aid the extrusion during manufacture accommodates the bolt projection allowing the hexagon end to fit over the nut and bolt fastening the clip to the scaffolding ensuring a secure fit for the safety cap.
& Made from a non-flammable moulded plastic it is maintenance free and long lasting and can be reused many times as a tube end or clip protector.
All caps will be made in various bright day glow colours to help define and outline scaffolding.
jQ Company colours or logos can be incorporated into the manufacture to personalise or identify cap end ownership.
