Abstract

A feeding system which allows a baby to consume liquid food from a vessel whilst limiting the amount of air consumed at the same time, thus reducing the chance of colic. Preferably the feeder comprises a bag B that collapses under vacuum as the baby sucks the liquid out. The bag B may be held in a support frame A which has a slot to allow the bag to collapse freely. A teat C may be included which has an internal conical tube running through the centre which reduces in size and thickness as it reaches the feeding outlet. The teat C and bag B may be held in place by a screw on cap D. A lid may also be provided to prevent spillages.

Description

DESCRIP110N -And Colic -Baby Feedina System.
Various attempts have been made to reduce the chances of babies suffering from Colic & trouble with the baby's cars. Colic can cause miting and burping, is distressful for both the mother and the child and disrupts the feeding and even sleeping process.
This feeding system is design to replicate the natural process of feeding a baby by the breast This system is designed remove all air from the feed and thus to reduce the amount of air taken in when a baby drinks. The Bottle as ft is currmtly imown is replaced with a bolder for a bag, which will hold the liquid (feed) the bag holder/bottle replacement will have slots running the length of the bottle which allow the bag to contract as the liqutd is drawn from the bag. The advantage of this is that no air is in the bag for the baby to swallow & pressure is built up in the bag. The bag itself collapses as the baby drinks and pulls out the liquid, As the bag can contract and provides no resistance. A vacuwn is formed inside the bag and no air enters. When the baby drinks from this system, as there is no resistance, the baby only consumes exactly the right amount of liquid it draws.
The system consists of: (see Drawings pages 5-0) A. The Bottle frame.
Mnch the same in design as the current baby's Ibeding bottle, but with slots down either side.
These slots allow for the internal feedbag to contract & reduce without resistance as the baby drinks. The frame of the bottle also holds the feeding bags in place and allows lbr case of use.
The bottles will clearly show the amount of feed in each bag either by the colour of the bags or by the nurements being clearly shown no the bags.
B. The bars Are lightweight & clear and cmi be filled with either pie-made formula or expressed breast milk Each bag has a thick ring at the top, open end, which is supported by the feeding bottle flame & allows the bags to be filed with pie-made formula Bags should vary in size & colour, depending on the amount of formula needed (2o; 4oz, 6o; 8oz etc) the bag should vary in size to prevent air entering the feed. Each bag will either have the menswenzs the bag can hold, clearly marked or be of a specific colour relating to the amount the bag can hold.
C. The Teat.
Rather than having a void inside the tact, it has a conical tube running down the centre of the teet, which narrows to the teet end. This cone fits flush with the top level of the feeding bag and is again designed to reduce the amount of air in the feeding system.
D. Screw down CoHar/nrn.
The Bottle, Feeding bag & sect are all held in place with a screw down ring, much the same as any other current babies bottles.
E Seal disk A standard lid/disc for sealing the bottle for later use, & the disc will sit inside the collar between the container & test to prevent spillage.
F. Can A standard, clear cap to cover the tact of the bottle once ii has been prepared but has not yet been used. A cap to cover the test of the bottle when not in use.
DESCRIPTION -And Colic -Baby Feedln Svstcin.
Figure 1 Shows the bottlelcontainer(A) from side & top view, the container must have either holes or Slots in the sides, to allow the containing b to contract freely, it must also be of a similar size to the conventional bottles for familianty and convenience.
Figure 2 shows the teet design(C) from side & below, with the conical tube running up the centre of the teet. It also shows a side profile of the lid for the bottle once and feed has been made up but is yet to be used.
bottle/container, the bag would be placed in the container (A) then filled with liquid for the feed Figure 4 Shows the Collar/doughnut(D) shaped lid that would hold the teet & bag in place ingcmtothtq,&thecontajnr(A) andthe Scald which ispat inpiace between the feedbag & teet once the bottle has been prepared but is not yet read for use. The Disc(E) would prevent Spillage.

Claims (13)

  1. Claims, 1. A feeding system, which allows a baby to consume liquid food
from a vessel whilst limiting the amount of air consumed at the same time, thus reducing the chances of Colic.
  2. 2. A feeding system container that contracts under the suction pressure applied by the baby's suckling in the feeding process.
  3. 3. A container will release liquid into the baby's mouth, as it is collapses under the suction force created by the baby's suckling action.
  4. 4. Air will be limited in the feeding system as the container collapses & operates as a vacuum.
  5. 5.
reducing in size & thickness as it reaches the tip of the ted.
  6. 6. A slotted container that will hold the feed system bag in place and provide support for the feeding bag.
  7. 7. A slotted container that will allow the parent to hold the feed system in a controlled & familiar manner.
  8. 8. A slotted container that will allow the bag to contract freely
  9. 9. A screw on cap through the centre of which the teet will fit.
  10. 10.
  11. II. A lid/disc to prevent spillage' seepage when the bottle is not in use but has bean prepared.
  12. 12. Lid must be removed before use and sit in the collar between the teet and the opening of the feeding bag.
