Abstract

A portable shearing handpiece (10) including a barrel (10a), a cutting head (B, C) mounted on the barrel (10a) and a reciprocable drive (11) wherein the barrel and coupled to the cutting head. The handpiece has an electric motor (14) mounted with the barrel (10a) the electric motor having a drive shaft (17) which is coupled via cam (12) to the reciprocable drive (11). The electric motor (14) is coupled via adaptor unit (21) to barrel (10a). The adaptor unit (21) has a mount (22) which is fixed with a cavity in the barrel of a shearing handpiece.
