Abstract
The modular storage and infiltration system, primarily for use underground, is formed from two types of panel, with a first type of panel that can be slotted into each other to form a central core and a second type of panel which form top and bottom panels. Multiple modules can be clipped to one another either vertically or horizontally to form a large system. Cylindrical strengthening elements may be placed within the modules to improve the strength of the modules, and the strengthening elements can placed concentrically within one another for additional strength. The panels are preferably formed from plastic and contain perforations to allow the flow of fluids therethrough. The strengthening elements may be formed from plastic, ceramic or any other suitable material and may also be perforated.

TITLE OF THE INVENTION
SCS Load bearing Stormwater Storage & Infiltration Module
BACKGROUND
In the market today there are several storage and infiltration modules used for the storage or attenuation of water or other fluids Some of these are made up of individual panels, allowing for economy of transport through efficient packaging.
These designs, however, generally suffer from a reduced load bearing capability compared to other designs.
The design of this invention centres on the use of individual panels which are inserted or slotted into each other and into the module's top, bottom and sides to form a structural load bearing module which surpasses the load bearing capabilities of other modules manufactured from individual panels The design of this invention also allows for the use of cylinders in order to provide greater strength, where necessary Through the use of connecting clips the modules may be interconnected to form greater storage capacities.
DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a Storage & Infiltration Module used for the storage or attenuation of water or other fluids.
The Storage & Infiltration Module is assembled from components that are usually but not exclusively made from plastic The Storage & Infiltration Module may be stored in flat-pack or unassembled form and has been designed for the easy assembly and, where necessary, disassembly.
The Storage & Infiltration Module components include, but may not be limited to, internal panels which may be interlocked by use of the slots provided within them, cylinders and other ancillary fittings to provide for various placements of components within The Storage & Infiltration Module.
The components of The Storage & Infiltration Module, which make up the sides and internal elements of the box, mostly, but not exclusively, have holes within them to allow water to flow through them.
The Storage & Infiltration Module is used predominantly, but not exclusively underground The Storage & Infiltration Module is load bearing, the extent of such capability being a function of the configuration of its internal elements.
The Storage & Infiltration Module is a modular unit which is designed to be used either as a single unit or as part of a system by placing units together with interlocking clips.
The Storage & Infiltration Module is designed so that additional internal components can be added to increase the bearing capacity of the module to suit differing loading conditions.
Claims (1)
- Claim I The main structure of The Storage & Infiltration Module comprises only two sizes of panels, namely type A and type B This can be seen En Figures 12,3 and 4. Both type A and B panels are provided with perforations to allow the free flow of water or air through the panels Claim 2 A Storage & Infiltration Module according to claim 1 characterised by the type B panels all have locating slots which enable them to be slotted into each other to form a central core which itself can then be located within the perimeter sides of The Storage & Infiltration Module and to the top and bottom panels The number of panels used to comprise the core may be varied as required to suit the loading conditions. This can be seen in Figure 4.Claim 3 A Storage & Infiltration Module according to claim 1-2 characterised by the ability to insert cylinders to strengthen The Storage & Infiltration Module. The number and diameter of cylinders may vary depending on requirements and may be located in a variety of positions as shown in Figure 5 The cylinders may be used in single configuration or on double configuration where a smaller diameter pipe is retained within a larger diameter pipe. The cylinders may be of plastic, injection moulded or extruded, of ceramic or of any other material suitable for use within water and may or may not be perforated.Claim 4 Portions of type A or type B panels may be removed to facilitate the introduction of cylinders into the box assembly, as shown in Figure 5 to allow both incoming and outgoing connections of various diameters.Claim 5 The Storage & Infiltration Module modules are fastened together by using joining clips as shown in Figure 6 for both horizontal and vertical stacking of the units.Claim 6 The design of the Storage & Infiltration Module enables up to 4 cubic metres of assembled module to be stored in flat- pack form on a single pallet together with other components to form a Rainwater Harvesting kit. Furthermore, the design enables an access shaft throughout the unit which is of sufficient size to enable entry by a person of normal proportions for maintenance purposes
