Abstract
A flat sheet of material, with a profiled opening, is formed into a beverage can lid (also termed a top, closure or end) 2, to fit on a carbonated a non carbonated beverage can body 3. A threaded, spouted insert 4, and screw cap 5 is permanently fixed into said profiled opening. The screw cap 5 is removed by a twisting action 6, thereby also breaking the "pilfer proof" seal I. Closing and sealing said cap is the reverse action, thereby preserving any remaining beverage in the can, eliminating potential spillage, retaining carbonation (if any) and preventing ingression of foreign matter. E.g. insects. The screw cap may be convex to allow beverage cans to be stacked one on top of each other.
Description
De5C,?/p770N: fl7Zt Rf5ML48L(AiVo R1-CLO5A8Lff 5(W4GE CAN I. Present
conventional 2 piece beverage cans woild wide, can not be re-sealed after opemnq the nng pull or stay on tab Vanous methods are available to keep out insects, (sh as the separate Iider tab, or the separate snap on pounnq spout of some yea,5 ago) Another problem is to keep the lid clean pnor topurc/zase, (one solution s the plastic snap on lid, another is the foil lid) but all present beverage cans lose carbmation after opening, thereby also losing their quality.
5pillage has never been addressed.
This patent addresses the re-sealing, contamination and consequently the spilhng and content preseivation aspects of the beverage can.
2. The ability to stack cans one on tq' of another in fridges and warehouses is a cntica/ success ictor of the can, and the design of this closure has taken this into consideration.
3. Anadditionalfactoris to be able to gnpthe closure (or/id) wit/i sufficient force, to be able to break the pilfer proor seal. This seal is a pre-requisite for beverage containei in most countries.
4. The design incoq.'orates a beverage can hd 2, which is mcthfied with a pennane, itly fitted pouring spout 4 and screw on cap 5.
The cap is designed to incol?'orate finger grips, a pilfer proof seal, I, and the convex shape nzatc/ies the concave shape of tile bottom oft/ic beverage can, thereby a/lowing "stacArng" (3 into 2)
Claims (5)
- CIA/M5.I. 8cverage can lid, housing a pennanentv fixed, threaaed, spouted inse,t, with convex shaped screw cap.
- 2. The beverage can lid according to claim I above, where the convex Mape of the screw cap al/ow5 beverage cans to be stacked one on tg' of the other (stackability)
- 3. The beverage can lid according to c/aim 2 above, where the convex shape of the screw cap allo cans to be stacked one on top of the other (5tackability), the con shape of the lid can be so modified as to allow a concave beverage can base to lock onto the convex shape of the lid.
- 4. The beverage can lid according to claim land 2 above, incorporates a)ilferproof 1ature.
- 5. The beverage can lid accorang to any of the preceding claims, where the convex shape of the screw cap incorporates finger gnp features that enhance opening and closing said screw cap.The beverage can hd according to any of the preceding claims, where when the convex shaped screw cap is screwed into the fixed, threaded, spouted insert, a seal is fanned 2.
