Abstract

A device for the presentation and preservation of food comprises a base 1 central column 3 detachably attached to the base 1, and divider plates 2 that are detachably attached to the central column 3 and the base 1, the base, column and dividers are covered by a domed cover (10, fig 3). During use, the base plate supports a cake for example, once the cake is cut, the column 3 is detachably attached to the base 1 and divider plates 2 are detachably attached to the central column and the base unit, and the divider plates are positioned to cover the cut edges of the cake. As the cake is cut, and slices removed, the divider plate(s) may be moved to ensure the cut edge of the cake is covered to ensure freshness. Alternatively numerous dividers may be used allow a mixture of cake or other food product slices to be displayed and preserved. Preferably the base plate is made from a polycarbonate or similar material and the cover from clear acrylic.

DEVICE FOR MAINTAINING SEPRATION OF FOOD PRODUCES

Field of the Invention

The invention relates to a device, which enables the food products such as cakes and gateau's to be separated in a hygienic condition during their time on display for sale purposes.

Background of the Invention

A problem that has been faced regularly by people in the food industry is ensuring that when a cake or gateau is prepared for sale that it remains in a hygienic condition during its sale. The condition of the product in question is paramount during the tune it is on display and can contravene regulations if the product is not stored correctly Sunumry of Invention The device is separate a cake or gateau in whatever breakdown is required. Normally, products of this nature axe separated into segments of 16,12, 10,8, or 6 pieces depending on the size of the product on display. The main body of the device is a polycarbonate base that is designed with a series of location holes and markers for the segments to be contained within. The centre of the base is fitted with a removable column which uses a bayonet style fitting to connect to the base. The removable centre column is designed to take the dedicated dividers which locate both in the column and in the base via a series of pegs. These dividers when locked in position form the divide between segments of the product. The whole unit is then covered by a dome shaped clear acrylic shell which locates on the outer periphery of the base and the central column thus msintning divider stability during use.

Detailed Description of the Preferred Embodiments

Figure 1 shows an isometric view of the device with the main polycarbonate base (1) with the dividers in place (2) which locate in the removable central column (3). The dividers (2) also locate in the positional holes (4). The dividers are moved by gripping the protrusion (5) and lifting vertically away from the main polycarbonate base (1) Figure 2 shows the device from the underside The removable central column (3) locates in the main polycarbonate base (1) using bayonet style locators (6) which fit in the main polycarbonate base (1) at points (7) & (8) respectively. The main polycaxbonate base (1) sits on the protrusions (9) when in use.

Figure 3 shows the device in isometric with the clear cover (10) fitted over the removable central column (3) with the handle (11) attached to the clear cover (10).

Claims

Claims 1) A device for the display and preservation of cakes & other

foodproducts comprising of a base using e.g. a material such as polycarbonate or similar that provides location points for a main central removable column to which divider plates can be fitted. The divider plates have location points along the base of the divider to ensure the dividers are kept straight & firm. A clear acrylic dome shaped cover then encompasses the divider plates. The process of this product, then allows a cake or other food product to stay fresher for longer than in your average display stand.
2) A device for the display and preservation of cakes & other food products, according to claim 1, wherein the dome that covers the product is made of clear acrylic to ensure a visual display of the products encased is always upheld.
3) A device for the display and preservation of cakes & other food products, according to the previous claims, wherein the central column can be removed, allowing a cake or other food product to be placed on the polycarbonate base.

As a section of the cake or other food product is cut and sold, the central column is then added.
4) A device for the display and preservation of cakes & other food products, according to the previous claims, wherein divider plates are then added to the central column and the location holes in the polycarbonate base, as a slice of :::: cake or other food product is then sold to ensure freshness.
5) A device for the display and preservation of cakes & other food products, 1* .1: according to the previous claims, wherein another piece of cake or other food product is sold, the divider is then moved to the next location point by the next :": slice of cake or other food product in the polycarbonate base and added to the central column to ensure freshness.
6) A device for the display and preservation of cakes & other food products, according to the previous claims, wherein alternatively you could add as many dividers as required, so that you can display a mixture of cakes or other food products e.g. (strawberry cheesecake and chocolate cake) ranging from 2 portions up to 16 portions.
