Abstract
A hand grip for use on a cable pulley resistance exercise machine comprises a handle for a one handed grip with the cable attached at one end of the handle. A protective disc prevents contact between the hand and the cable or pulley. The handle may be extended to for a two handed grip.

Wrist and forearm exercise aid
This invention relates to a handle for use on cable pulley exercise machines to strengthen wrist and arm muscles.
Using cable pulley resistance machines is an effective exercise technique as it allows the user to be flexible and move the cable end according to their own range of motion, this allows them to be able to target specific muscles or muscle groups in a given exercise programme.
Currently cable pulley exercise machines are becoming more popular resistance exercise equipment in many health clubs etc. The resistance is either with spring loaded resistance or weight stack resistance and the user is able to currently able to choose from "0" handles (A short bar fixed at both ends with either leather or fabric straps to a central fixing point with a clasp lock or similar that is used to fix the handle to the cable), This puts the resistance equally through the bar and allows the user to get maximum force through the "D" handle. Other fixings for cable equipment are strap handles which are looped around hands (or feet) and various centrally fixed bars that replicate the lifting of barbells. All do a similar function of allowing the user maximum force and stability through the handle
The invention relates to a handle that purposely makes the user unstable while using the invention and therefore targeting specific muscles by making them work harder to compensate for the un-stability in the handle.
According to the present invention there is provided a single hand grip exercise aid comprising a handle for a one handed grip, and as the unstable nature of the invention means the cable and fixings may come in contact with the users hand it is accordingly fixed with a protective disc to protect the user from injury from the cable or clasp locks.
The structure including;
A handle like structure being suitable for a one handed grip (or a double length handle suitable for a two handed grip) and provided with an eye socket metal fixing at one end. This handle being suitable for use with a cable pulley exercise machine and thereon in order to better exercise the wrist and arm muscles, (as shown in drawing 1) and;
A metal protective disc fixed at the handle end and beneath the eye fixing to protect the users hand from coming in contact with the cable or clasp locks.
The use of a the invention enclosed is that with a handle fixed at one end only the weight of the resistance is "unbalanced" which requires more grip strength
from the user and incorporates other muscle groups to compensate for this imbalance, which increases the opportunity for exercise and gives a greater range of exercise options.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which
Drawing 1 shows the muscles targeted by "unstable" nature of the invention in fig. 1 as opposed to the conventional handle in fig. 2
Drawing 2 shows the side and top view of the invention, specifically the safety hilt..
Drawing 3 shows the protection for the user while using the invention..
Drawing 4 shows the invention with a longer handle, allowing for greater exercise options.

Claims (3)
1. An exercise aid for the wrist and forearm muscles comprising a single end fixed handle for use on cable pulley resistance based exercise machines,
2. A single end fixed handle as claimed in Claim 1, wherein due to the unstable nature of the invention means the cable and fixings may come in contact with the users hand it is accordingly fixed with a protective disc to protect the user from injury from the cable or clasp locks
3. A single fixed handle as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the handle length could be manufactured for either single or double hand-grip to maximise the exercise options.
