Abstract

The invention relates to a soft drinks can protective cover, which incorporates a rotating top. When placed on an open can of drink and correctly lined up it allows the user to freely drink from the can and then to rotate again to a closed position, when not drinking to prevent the ingress of insects, bugs and other foreign bodies. Additionally a straw can be placed through a small circular aperture on the top to allow people to drink from the can. This can also be rotated to a closed position once the straw has been removed.

Description
The invention relates to a soft drinks can cover, which incorporates a rotating top to allow when positioned correctly the user to drink from the can and then to rotate again to a closed position.
Standard drinks cans when opened can attract bugs, I.e wasps etc, which can contaminate the drink and be potentially hazardous if the drinker is unaware.
The object of this Invention is to prevent foreign bodies from entering the opened can.
Accordingly this Invention provides a seaLed cover, complete with rotating opening aperture that can be opened and closed as desired. Incorporated Is a straw hole that when a straw is placed through It can also be drunk from.
Preferably the product Is made of plastic materiaL.
Technical As shown In flg.1 the assembly sits (Darts 1 and 2) approx' 12 mm high, with a tab extending out to the side by approx' 7mm. The Inner ring can be seen to protrude by approx' 1mm below the main body of assembLy.
The rotating dnnklng aperture assembly (Dart 2) flg.4 fits snugly into the upper portion of the assembly to a depth of approx' 3mm, wIth the actuaL securing centre piece protruding another 3mm down through the centre hole.
There are also two rectangular raised finger grips equally spaced both middle left and middle right on the top of the rotating drinking aperture assembly, which allows It to be rotated.
The finger grips are approx' 10mm in Length and approx' 1mm In depth and width.
The assembly (Part 1) wIth It's "trench" system of securing to the can, as seen In flg.3, has a depth of approx' 6mm and a total outer diameter of approx' 60mm wIth an Inner diameter of approx' 50mm. The centre fixing hole has a diameter of approx' 5mm.
The drinking opening as seen In figs.2/ 3/4/5 Is approx' 28mm wIde and approx' 11mm high with a kind of rounded Indentation creating the Impression of a pair of lips.
AdditionalLy there Is a hoLe placed in (part 2) directLy opposite the drinking opening which when In the correct position allows a straw to be placed through. (standard straw size) x The tab which Is used for allowing the assembly to be removed from the can Is approx' 18mm wide and approx' 7mm Long and approx' 1mm deep, as seen in flg.2 and 3.
FIg.6 shows the side view of the rotating drinking aperture assembly with the finger grips located at the top and the centre securing piece below.
Fig.7 shows the two pieces together and fixed to a soft drinks can.
Can rap Figure 1 Shows a side view of the whole assembly.
Comprising of (parts I and 2) Figure 2 Shows a overhead view of the whole assembLy. (parts I and 2) Figure 3 Shows the underside view of the main assembly. (part 1) Figure 4 Shows the overhead view of just the rotating drinking aperture assembLy, complete with straw hole. (part 2) Figure 5 Shows the underside view of the rotating drinking aperture assembly, complete with straw hole. (part 2) Figure 6 Shows the side view of the rotating drinking aperture assembly.
(part 2) Figure 7 Shows a view of the whole assembly In place on a soft drink can.

The object of this invention is primarily to prevent foreign bodies, Including insects from entering the opened can of drink.
This invention aLso provides a seated cover(not airtight), of which the aperture for drinking from can be opened and closed as desired, by rotating the top disc to the correct positions. This also prevents spiLLage when in the cLosed position.
The top also provides a degree of protection in terms of hygiene to the drinker, as the mouth does not come Into direct contact with the opened can during drinking.
This invention also allows a straw to be pLaced through a hole in the top to allow people to drink from the can, again without spiLLage.
The top is lightweight, portabLe and easy to clean.
