Abstract

A continuous wire/cord g with decoys h attached, is fed through a series of guide pulleys i and m. The wire, and the decoys, are moved by the action of a drive pulley c which is powered by a low voltage motor a. The pulleys are supported by a frameworks d and j which push into the ground and are restrained by guide ropes f and l. In use, the motor drives the wire around an area demarcated by the pulleys causing the decoys to move around the area, improving their effectiveness.

Description

* 2441103 Pigeon Line The invention relates to a device to assist a
pigeon shooter.

When pigeon shooting it is often customary to arrange pigeon decoys in a manor simulating a feeding frenzy. This is done with the hope of attracting passing pigeons within range of shot.

However, the use of stationary pigeon decoys often fails to attract the attention of passing pigeons. With no movement amongst the pigeon decoys (decoy) the pigeons often fly straight by without even noticing the collection of decoys spread out beneath them. Furthermore, the tactic of stationary decoys has been used for many years and it is now beginning to appear obvious that pigeons are relating a stationary feeding site to loud bangs and frightening past experiences and as a result it appears to make many pigeons more nervous. To overcome these problems, the present invention proposes a motorised pulley driving a wire/cord (with pigeon decoys attached) through a series of guide pulleys covering a large area, the motorised pulley is powered by a low voltage battery (LVB).

The simulated flying movement of the attached decoys opposed to the normal stationary decoys will have a greater influence on attracting passing pigeons from greater distances by making the feeding frenzy look a lot more realistic and appealing.

Preferably, the pigeon decoys attached to the wire/cord will have there wings fully extended appearing to passing pigeons that they also are in fact flying.

Preferably, the wire/cord will run from the motorised pulley through a number of other pulleys and then back to the motorised pulley in one complete loop.

The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows an overhead view of an ordinary pigeon decoy setup with all pigeons stationary.

Figure 2 shows a detailed drawing of the pigeon line.

Figure 3 shows an overhead view of the pigeon line amongst the once stationary decoy setup.

Figure 4 shows an alternative similar design.

In figure I, the decoys are arranged in a typical feeding pattern with each decoy stationary.

In figure 2, a motorised pulley (c) is attached to a low voltage motor (a) (LVM). The LVM (a) is attached to the supporting frame work (d) by means of attachment method (b). Two guide ropes(f) are pulled taught and pinned into the ground securing the frame work (d) after foot step (e) has also been pushed into the ground. Around the motorised pulley (c) a wire/cord (g) which has a number of pigeon decoys (h) attached travels through the first guide pulley (i). The guide pulley (i) is attached to the frame work U) which also has a foot stand (k) and two guide ropes (I). The wire/cord then travels the through the second identical guide pulley (m) before returning to the motorised pulley (c) completing one continuous loop. From an aerial view the pigeon decoys (h) appear to be flying around in a complete loop passing through each pulley in turn.

In figure 3, the pigeon line is in use with the once ordinary stationary decoy pattern adding both eye-catching movement and realism to the decoys.

In figure 4, an alternative embodiment, where the motorised pulley (p) sits in a vertical position and is attached to a LVM (a). The LVM (a) is attached to the supporting frame work (t) by means of attachment method (n). Two guide ropes (u) are pulled taught and pinned into the ground securing the frame work (t) once the foot stands (v) have been pushed into the ground. Around the motorised pulley (p) a wire/cord (g) which has a number of pigeon decoys (h) attached travels through the only guide pulley (o). The guide pulley (o) also sits vertically and is attached to the frame work (w) by means of attachment method (s) which also has foot stands (q) and two guide ropes (r). Once the wire/cord (g) has passed through the guide pulley (o) it returns to the motorised pulley (p) in one complete loop. On the top side of the pigeon decoys (h) they are painted grey with white bars on the wing just like a life like pigeon, however, the underside of the decoy (h) is painted a dark colour (green/black/brown) to blend in with the ground colour. From an aerial view the decoys (h) will appear to be flying in one constant direction, appearing at guide pulley (p) and disappearing at motorised pulley (o).

Claims (1)
