Abstract

A gas cylinder, wheeled support sleeve is engageable over the bottom end of a gas cylinder such as a scuba air tank.

Description

Page 1 2440551

Description

Scuba Diving cylinder carrier with wheels.

As a scuba diver for over 20 years and not getting any younger and watching other people mainly ladies, struggle with large cylinders it got me thinking.

Scuba diving is a fantastic sport but very physically demanding on the body. From when you arrive you have to start to Lug around heavy gear often from a car park to wherever the harbour may be to catch your boat.

UsuaLly it takes 2 or 3 trips from your car to the harbour depending on each person getting your gear to the boat. The first trip maybe your dive kit bag, which is very heavy, second trip often another kit bag and lastly your diving cylinder.

You might say buy yourself a trolley, problem being usually storage space on a dive boat is very Limited and if you are on a small inflatable dive boat there is no room at alt.

When you watch men divers carry their cylinder they often throw it on their shoulder. Speaking from experience this is ok for a minute or so but then it gets very heavy, then you have to put it on your other shoulder alternating all the time. By the time you get to the boat you are in need of rest but no time for that because the tide waits for no man.

When you watch ladies carry their cylinder it is sole destroying for them and for you watching. As a gentleman I just want to help but as divers know time is very important and my own gear has to come first. Ladies usually cannot lift their cylinder on their shoulders so they just drag or lift them in the best way they possibly can.

Page 2 This is where my simpLe but so practical invention becomes into a League of its own.

I believe it will be a must piece of equipment for every diver in the world, relieving the Long time struggle of getting cylinders around from dive site to car and vice versa.

The cyLinder carrier I have designed will alLow you to pull or push with great ease your diving cylinder. No more Lifting or struggling.

The main feature on my carrier is 2 smaU tough wheels on a short axel fastened securely buy two steel nuts. These are set into the bottom and slightly to one side of the carrier so the cylinder stands up straight as normaL but once the cylinder as been grasped and tilted the wheels come into play.

As anything, which comes into contact with seawater, it WflL need a little maintenance. The body of the carrier and the wheels are made of a hard plastic matenat, which will not rot and WILL just need a wash down. The axet is made of steeL, which can be easily taken out to maintain or replace in time.

I beLieve this invention will not just be for the diving industry but any industry, which uses cylinders in their line of work.

Please take time to study the drawings at the end.

Page 3 The page Labelled (1 of 3) page 6 shows you the design & features of the carrier.

Reference letter (A) shows you the fuLl carrier Looking from the front.

Reference Letter (B) shows a bottom end of a cylinder & how it sits into the carrier.

Reference Letter (C) shows the two wheels & how they fit flush into the opening of the carrier.

Reference Letter (D) shows the threaded axeL, which is mounted through the body of the carrier & through the wheels, enabling the wheeLs to move.

Reference Letter (E) shows the two retaining nuts on each end of the threaded axet.

Reference Letter (F) shows the adjustment gap, this allows the cylinder to fit onto the carrier with ease, closing the gap to secure.

Reference letter (G) shows the neck of the carrier reducing so not to Let the cylinder slide any further down.

The page LabeLled (2 of 3) page 7 shows you the design & features of the carrier from a side view.

The page labelLed (3 of 3) page 8 shows the workings of the carrier once tilted.

Claims (1)

 1.
Page 4 CLaims 1. I claim a cylinder carrier open at both ends.

2. I claim at the top end of the carrier mentioned in claim 1 is the neck where the cyLinder sits and this reduces in size to allow a tight fit & stop the cylinder sLiding down further.

3. I claim at the bottom of the carrier mentioned in claim I & 2 hosts the two wheels & the axeL.

4. I claim the axet as mentioned in cLaim 3 goes through the body of the carrier mentioned in cLaim I through the two wheels mentioned in claim 3 then through the body of the carrier at the other side.

5. I cLaim the axeL as mentioned in claim 3 ft 4 is securely fastened by one nut at either side of the axet.

6. I claim the carrier as mentioned in claims 1 2 3 a 4 is made from the materials plastic ft steel.

7. I claim a cylinder carrier substantially as herein described above ft illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
