Abstract

A child's toy box or drawer system with a locking mechanism 8 that only allows one drawer of toys to be opened at one time. The child has to replace the contents of the drawer in order to gain access to another drawer. The lock 8 may only be locked once the toys are replaced due to the action of a weight dependent base plate 5, which may be mounted on springs 6. The key may be on a closed fob with other keys locks on other boxes, thus the child can only play with one group of toys at a time without replacing it. The keys may be provided in different shapes and colours corresponding to different capes ad colours of key holes. The system may either slide under beds or be in stacking box form.

Description

Tidy Toys 1 This invention relates to a device for enabling parents to
ensure their child/children can only play with one set or group of toys at any one time.

When small children are playing with their toys in doors they tend to play with one group of toys, for example their bulding blocks, then once tired of this toy they move onto another group of toys for example farm animals. This tends to continue resulting in a lot of mess on the floor and the parents having to spend a while on the floor cleanng it all away at the end of the day or play period.

To overcome this problem the present invention proposes a slide under the bed box system, or stacking draw system.

This invention will enable the child to only be able to take out one set or group of toys at a time, and they will have to replace these toys in the invention before they are able to extract different toys from the invention.

The box or draw system is acheived by a lock and key system, where by the child uses a key to open one of the multiple draws, once open the key cannot be taken out.

Once the toys are removed -springs under the draw base move it up also stopping the lock moving. Resulting in the fact that the key cannot be removed.

This prevents the child from opening another box until the weight is back in the box, i.e the toys, and the box or draw lid is closed, only then can the child remove the key and open another box.

There are different shaped and coloured keys for different boxes or draws and all the keys are on the same fob preventing the child using the other keys, thus preventing multiple draws being opened.

When one key is in use this adds to the element of fun and learning for the child as he/she has to put the correct shape and coloured key into the matching coloured and shaped lock.

This also enables the parent to teach the child how to use the box or draw system in the fun and educational way by doing shape and colour recognition.

The invention will now be descibed solely by way of example and with reference to accompanying drawings.

Figure 1 shows the box/drawer facia, with the external key plate fixing pins which holds on the external key plate, it also shows the external key entry hole and the box/drawer lid, and key on fob.

Figure 2 shows the box/drawer lid which has the lid locking loop, it also shows the weight dependant base plate and the base plate springs, it also shows the side veiw of the sealed locking mechanism area.

Figure 3 shows the box/drawer lid which has the lid locking loop, also shown is the weight dependant base plate and the base plate spring, the key assisted locking plate and internal key entry hole. its also shows the sliding secondary lock plate and the sliding secondary lock plate release mechanism. the hook and eye spring to engage the secondary lock plate and the sliding secondary lock plate pivot also the lock plate restricter grooves and the lock engage grooves are visible.

Figure 4 shows the box/drawer facia, with the external key plate fixing pins which holds on the external key plate. also shown is the external key entry hole the drawer handle and the external drawer casing.

Figure 5 shows the external drawer casing which holds the drawer handle, a side view of the sealed locking mechanism area, also the weight dependant base plate and the base plate spring.

Figure 6 shows the external drawer casing, the box/draw lid, the lid locking loop, it also shows the weight dependant base plate, the base plate spring, also shown are the lock plate restricter grooves, the lock engage grooves.

the internal key entry hole and the key assised locking plate. the sliding secondary lock plate has attached the hook and eye spring to engage sliding secondary lock plate, the sliding secondary lock plate pivot, and the sliding secondary lock plate release mechanism In figure 1 key (20) is inserted into key slot (14) based in plate (2) which is held in position on facia (3) by key plate fixing pins (13) with lid (1) closed. The turning of key (20) releases lid (1).

In figure 2 it shows a side view of opened lid (1) as described by use of figure 1, this also shows lid locking loop (4) and weight dependant base plate (5) this is supported by the base plate spring (6). Figure 2 also shows relative position of sealed locking mechanism.

In figure 3 it shows the lid (1) in the closed position with key assisted locking plate hook (8) engaged into lid locking lid (4).

With key (20) inserted and turned in internal key entry hole (15) the key assisted locking plate (8) can only be moved the amount allowed by the lock plate restncter grooves (16), this prevents over turning of locking mechanism. With locking mechanism opened plate (8) hook disingages from lid (1) loop (4) allowing lid to open.

The opening of lid (1) also raises the sliding secondary lock plate release mechanism (11) which is attached to lid (1). The lifting of this lid (1) and plate (11) allows spring (9) to pull sliding secondary lock plate into position (17), thus locking key assisted locking plate (8) until lids (1) closed releasing sliding secondary lock plate which is held in place by pivot (12). With weight removed from weight dependant base plate (5). The base plate springs (6) will raise the base plate (5) into locking position (17) fully locking shaped key (20) into lock and unable to be removed until weight is replaced onto weight dependant base plate (5) releasing plates from position (17). Lid (1) must then be closed allowing secondary locking plate release mechanism to slide sliding secondary lock plate out of position (17). Only by this combination can the lock be re-locked and the key removed allowing further keys to be used on different drawers.

This locking mechanism also applies to the drawer system in Figures4& 5&6.

Claims (1)

  1.
claims 4 1. A childs toy box and draw system that only allows via a
locking mechanism the child to open and use one drawer of toys at one time before hvng to replace the toys to gain access to the next drawer of toys.

2. A slide under the bed box toy system or a stacking box toy system with compartments which once unlocked and opened can only be closed with the toys replaced and the lid shut before the key can be removed from the lock and used on the next toy drawer as per claim 1.
