Abstract

A device for improving the gait of a gait-impaired patient, for example, a patient suffering from Parkinson's Disease, comprises a support frame (101) carried on the head of the patient, first and second cue means (120), such as LEDs or LCDs, mounted on the device, for projecting first and second visual cues at fixed points into the field of vision of the left eye and the right eye respectively of the patient, and circuitry for causing alternate actuation of the first and second cue means, to activate the said first and second visual cues alternately. The device may also include an additional LED (21) adapted to provide a stimulus to the peripheral vision of the patient. The device may be incorporated into a pair of spectacles or goggles, or may be a clip-on attachment for an existing a pair of spectacles or goggles.
