Abstract
243,927. Kalth÷ner, P., and Steuerlein, G. Feb. 3, 1925. Boots for walking on water.-Relates to shoes or boots for walking on the water, of the kind which are coupled in pairs and parallelly guided each shoe being provided with a paddle or producing resistance when the other is moved forward, According to the invention, each shoe is providec with a paddle adapted to be displaced in the direction of movement, and positively connects with the paddle in the other shoe, so that when one shoe is advanced, the other is also advanced to produce an effective advance equal to double the length of the apparent step. Each shoe comprises a float A, B, having paddles 10, 10, mounted on rods 9, 9 slidably and rotatably journaled at the sides of the floats. The paddles are connected by clips 13, 13a to ropes 8, 8a passing round pulleys 7, 7 and connected tc arm 5, 5a on the other shoe. The arms 5, 5a extend from one shoe to the other as shown in Fig. 4, and are provided with rollers 2, 2a to run freely on rods 1, 1. In use, a foot is placed on each of the foot boards 4, 4, and the levers 19, 19 are manipulated to immerse and withdraw the paddles at the appropriate times.
