Fig. 8 is a plan cross-sectional view of the conventional holder for a temporary artificial tooth as shown in Fig. 6.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to the drawings and initially to Figs. 1 and 2, a holder for an artificial tooth in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a holder body 40 having an upper end formed with a plurality of locking hooks 44 and a lower end formed with an arcuate base portion 41 radially extending outwardly therefrom. The holder body 40 has a bottom formed with a fixing recess 42 having a plurality of limit ribs 43.

In operation, referring to Fig. 3 with reference to Figs. 1 and 2, an implant 50 has a lower end inserted through the gum 61 into the alveolar bone of a patient and an upper end formed with a support portion 51 protruding from the gum 61 of the patient. The support portion 51 of the implant 50 has a plurality of limit portions 52. Then, when the holder body 40 is mounted on the implant 50, the fixing recess 42 of the holder body 40 is mounted on the support portion 51 of the implant 50, and the limit ribs 43 of the fixing recess 42 are locked onto the limit portions 52 of the support portion 51, so that the holder body 40 is fixed on the implant 50. At this time, the gum 61 of the patient is pressed outwardly by the base portion 41 of the holder body 40 to preserve a space for an artificial tooth.

As shown in Fig. 4, when a temporary artificial tooth 70 is mounted on the holder body 40, the inside of the temporary artificial tooth 70 is locked by the locking hooks 44 of the holder body 40, so that the temporary artificial tooth 70 is fixed on the locking hooks 44 of the holder body 40 to prevent the temporary artificial tooth 70 from being detached from the holder body 40 due to an external collision.

At this time, the base portion 41 of the holder body 40 is located under the temporary artificial tooth 70 and has a shape matching that of the neck portion of the temporary artificial tooth 70, so that the base portion 41 of the holder body 40 functions as the neck portion of the temporary artificial tooth 70.

Thus, the base portion 41 of the holder body 40 functions as the neck portion of the temporary artificial tooth 70, so that the dentist only needs to directly place the temporary artificial tooth 70 onto the holder body 40 without * having to touch the gum 61 of the patient, thereby facilitating the dentist mounting the temporary artificial tooth 70 onto the holder body 40. In addition, the temporary artificial tooth 70 is mounted on the holder body 40 easily and rapidly, thereby saving the working time, and thereby enhancing the working efficiency. Further, the base portion 41 of the holder body 40 functions as the neck portion of the temporary artificial tooth 70, so that the manufacturer needs not to make the neck portion of the temporary artificial tooth 70, thereby shortening the time for making the temporary artificial tooth 70, and thereby facilitating the manufacturer making the temporary artificial tooth 70.

In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the base portion 41 of the holder body 40 has different sizes and shapes to correspond to that of the temporary artificial tooth 70.

As shown in Fig. 5, when a permanent artificial tooth 71 is mounted on the holder body 40, the inside of the permanent artificial tooth 71 is locked by the locking hooks 44 of the holder body 40, so that the permanent artificial tooth 71 is fixed on the locking hooks 44 of the holder body 40 to prevent the permanent artificial tooth 71 from being detached from the holder body 40 due to an external collision.

At this time, the base portion 41 of the holder body 40 is located under the permanent artificial tooth 71 and has a shape matching that of the neck portion of the permanent artificial tooth 71, so that the base portion 41 of the holder body 40 functions as the neck portion of the permanent artificial tooth 71.

Thus, the base portion 41 of the holder body 40 functions as the neck portion of the permanent artificial tooth 71, so that the dentist only needs to directly place the permanent artificial tooth 71 onto the holder body 40 without having to touch the gum 61 of the patient, thereby facilitating the dentist mounting the permanent artificial tooth 71 onto the holder body 40. In addition, the permanent artificial tooth 71 is mounted on the holder body 40 easily and rapidly, thereby saving the working time, and thereby enhancing the working efficiency. Further, the base portion 41 of the holder body 40 functions as the neck portion of the permanent artificial tooth 71, so that the manufacturer needs not to make the neck portion of the permanent artificial tooth 71, thereby shortening the time for making the permanent artificial tooth 71, and thereby facilitating the manufacturer making the permanent artificial tooth 71.

Accordingly, the base portion of the holder body functions as the neck portion of the artificial tooth, so that the dentist only needs to directly place the artificial tooth onto the holder body without having to touch the gum of the patient, thereby facilitating the dentist mounting the artificial tooth onto the holder body. In addition, the artificial tooth is mounted on the holder body easily and rapidly, thereby saving the working time, and thereby enhancing the working efficiency. Further, the base portion of the holder body functions as the neck portion of the artificial tooth, so that the manufacturer needs not to make the neck portion of the artificial tooth, thereby shortening the time for * making the artificial tooth, and thereby facilitating the manufacturer making the artificial tooth.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
