Abstract

A heart-shaped greetings card in which the shape is created by various folds to provide a brief message or wish in an easily understood manner. Preferably the card includes a locking device 2, 3 to hold the folds in place. The card may comprise square elements 1 and two semi-circular shapes 4 opposite each other which may be locked together. The card may include horizontal, vertical and diagonal folds which intersect the centre and fold inwards to create a heart shape. The heart-shaped card may provide an alternative to conventional greetings cards.

Heart-Shaped Greetings Card

This invention is a heart shape greetings card, a device or object which provides a brief message or expresses a wish in an easy and readily understood manner. The present invention can be used for anniversaries, birthdays, weddings or any celebratory events.

Nowadays there seems to be too many conventional greetings cards in shops which are dedicated to sell greetings cards and other gifts and accessories. As a result of this, there is a need to provide consumers with a greetings card that is not only well made but also unique and different, as well as having a design that is new and has not been seen before in the marketplace. Moreover, the greetings card is a functional and communications object, used to deliver a message as well as to allow the receiver to treasure the card as an item of intrinsic and sentimental value. Hence, it is an object of the present invention that the Heart-Shaped Greetings Card meets the needs identified above.

As the card becomes more and more intricate and sophisticated, the appeal of the greetings card slowly transforms into more of a desirable object or as a gift in itself rather than one of mere sentiment. I think there is still a continuing need for a new and innovative, creative and thought-provoking product within the greetings card sector. This is of particular importance within the more up-market and specialised greetings card sector.

According to the present invention, a Heart-shaped Greetings Card is not limited to any particular materials, sizes or formats. However, the use of paper, plastic corrugated card and paperboard are most appropriate. Also the present invention proposes a series of alternatives that meets the needs of the consumers, and also providing additional colouring and perfuming, derived from agents approved for cosmetics applications.

The present invention (derived from such materials) is folded to form a heart shape and is not limited to any particular message provided inside. By releasing the locking device the Heart-Shaped Greetings Card is opened up into a generally flat sheet which consists of four square elements and two semi-circular shapes which are diagonally facing from one another.

Figure 1 shows how a Heart-shaped Greetings Card is made up of: four square elements (1), a horizontal die-cut (2), a vertical die-cut (3), and two semi-circular shapes (4) facing diagonally from one another. The two semi-circular shapes are attached to the square element that has no diagonal fold (5).

Figure 2 shows that by folding two of the square elements (1) inward, it will automatically form into a Heart-Shaped Greetings Card.

Figure 3 shows a horizontal die-cut (2) on the front of the Heart-Shaped Greetings Card, which acts as a locking device to hold two of the inward folded square elements (1) and to form a heart shape.

Figure 4 shows a vertical die-cut (3) on the back of the Heart-shaped Greetings Card,

which acts as a locking device to hold two of the inward folded square elements (1)

to form a heart shape.

Figure 5 shows an alternative locking device which has a vertical (6) and semi-circular Shape die-cut (7) in the centre of the square elements which does not have a diagonal fold (5).

Figure 6 shows a semi-circular shape die-cut (7) on the front of the Heart-Shaped Greetings Card, which acts as an alternative locking device to hold two of the inward folded square elements (1) to form a heart shape.

Figure 7 shows a vertical die-cut (6) on the back of the Heart-shaped Greetings Card,

which acts as an alternative locking device to hold two of the inward folded square elements (1) to form a heart shape.

Claims

1. A Heart-Shaped Greetings Card in which the design is made up of various folding means and to provide a brief message, expresses a wish or by other means via an easy and readily understood manner.

2. A Heart-Shaped Greetings Card as described according to the preceding claim, which comprises of a locking device to hold all foldings in place.

3. A Heart-Shaped Greetings Card as described according to the preceding claims, of which the card consists of horizontal, vertical and diagonal folded means.

4. A Heart-Shaped Greetings Card as described according to the preceding claims, in which the card consists of two semi-circular shapes facing diagonally from one other.

5. A Heart-Shaped Greetings Card as described according to the preceding claims,

which, when the card is folded the two semi-circular shapes, will meet together and in between the locking device.

6. A Heart-Shaped Greetings Card as described according to the preceding claims, which consists of square elements.

7. A Heart-Shaped Greetings Card as described according to the preceding claims, in which all folds will cross over the centre of the square elements.

8. A Heart-Shaped Greetings Card as described according to the preceding claims, which consists of inward folds.

9. A Heart-Shaped Greetings Card as described according to the preceding claims, where the square elements consists of a diagonal fold.

10. A Heart-Shaped Greetings Card as described according to any of the preceding claims, in which the semi-circular shapes are positioned by the square elements which does not have a diagonal fold.
