Abstract

Games equipment comprises a games base 2 with a number of interchangeable playing surface panels. The panels may be opaque, translucent 3 or transparent 4. Indicator lights 6 controlled by switches may be fitted under the base.

Description

Multifarious games base This invention relates to a multifarious games
base. Most games, in particular board type, require a playing board together with appropriate tokens, to enable a game to be played according to the rules for that particular game. Each game is a single unit and must be stored after use in a suitable container.

Therefore any alternative to individual storage would be desirable.

Another negative of most board type games is wear and tear, for instance a game board is generally folded when not in use and opened for play. This multiplicity of folding can weaken the centre fold to such an extent that the board will break in half.

Therefore any alternative to a multiplicity of folding would be desirable.

Markings for any particular board game are generally printed on the playing surface and can with time, be scratched away or fade.

Therefore any alternative to playing on a printed surface would be desirable.

The majority of board games require individual game tokens which, if lost, will make that particular game unplayable.

Therefore any alternative to individual game tokens would be desirable.

Storage of multiple games can cause damage to containers and contents.

Therefore any alternative to multiple storage would be desirable.

Accordingly a first aspect of the present invention provides a base with means to accommodate multifarious games using the same tokens for any chosen game. All games overlays are transparently printed on the reverse side so that player tokens cannot cause scratches or other damage. By using the same tokens for every game the risk of loss is minimised.

The playing boards necessary for presently available games, for instance, Draughts, Chess and many others, can be substituted for an overlay printed to suit the particular game and used on the multifarious games base.

The base can have indicator lamps which will be visible through the translucent overlay and activated by switching devices determined by the rules of the game in play. It is therefore possible to build up a bank of pes pverlys simply by using transparent panels printed to show the appropriate bekgroucJ.

Some examples where indicators and switching devices could b used are minefields for Army type games, torpedos for Navy, CCTV for Banlcs, voad Dbstructions for car rally and many others.

It is also possible to play any other game whereby indicators and switching devices are not necessary.

The invention is therefore advantageous as it reduces all of the undesirable features listed earlier in relation to presently available board type games.

A multifarious games base as described makes it possible to play many types of game simply by using an appropriate games overlay.

In order that the present invention may be fully understood, a preferred embodiment of the multifarious games base, in accordance therewith, will now be described by way of example only and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is a partial plan view of the multifarious games base assembled.

Figure 2 is a partial plan view showing relevant parts before assembly.

As shown in figures 1 and 2 the invention comprises a games base indicated generally at 1 A base board indicated generally at 2 A translucent panel indicated generally at 3 A transparent panel indicated generally at 4 A games panel indicated generally at 5 One or more indicator lamps generally indicated at 6 Switching devices not shown
