Abstract

A racket grip guide comprises a cone shaped device 1 attached to tie 3 to secure it to the racket handle. The guide is positioned between the index finger and the second finger; the guide ensures that the hand is correctly placed and cannot move during play.

Description

RACKET GRIP GUIDE

The number one problem coaching racket sports is to get the player to use the correct grip.

This invention relates to a device attached to a racket to be used as a guide for the correct grip.

This invention makes it impossible for the player to alter their grip during play.

The guide should be constructed of a slightly pliable material so as to make it user friendly, but strong enough so as to keep its original shape.

The guide should be secured to the racket by a plastic cable tie around the racket handle via a hole in the device. It should be secured to the handle pointing in the same direction the racket is facing, two thirds the way up the handle, with the clasp on the side of the guide furthest from the players shoulder. The hand will be placed on the handle so as to position the guide between the index finger and the second finger, snug to the crotch of the two fingers. This will ensure not only that the hand has the correct position on the top of the handle but also that the index finger and thumb are slightly extended toward the head of the racket.

FIGURE 1 shows the guide and the cable tie.

FIGURE 2 shows how the guide is attached to the racket handle.

FIGURE 3 shows the guide attached to the racket handle ready for use.

As shown in Figure 1 the guide comprises a Number One size rubber stopper 1 and an eight inch plastic cable tie 3. The stopper has a hole through ittwo thirds down from the top or smaller end 2 through which the cable tie 3 is fed.

Figure 2 shows how the cable tie 3 goes around the racket handle and through the hole 2 in the stopper 1 to attach the guide to the racket handle.

As shown in Figure 3 the grip is secured to the handle two thirds of the way up, pointing in the same direction the racket is facing. Any excess cable tie is cut away. ClAIM
