Abstract
An identification wristband is coated, over the bulk of it's body, with a chemical formula which is both antibacterial and anti fungal. The coating may be applied during a manufacturing stage or later. The wristband may find application in hospitals, to provide patients with a clean identification wrist band. In the drawing, material 1 is the identification layer, and material 2 is the antibacterial layer.

<p>Description</p>
<p>This invention relates to identification wristbands, which are coated with a product that contains a special formula. This chemical formula is both antibacterial and anti fungal and prevents bacteria from growing anywhere the chemical is applied. The formulated coating is applied to the wristband either during manufacture or at a later date. The final material has many different applications including hospital wristbands where there is a constant battle to ensure the spread of bacteria is prohibited and cleanliness is paramount.</p>
<p>Health agencies and authorities throughout the world are constantly looking at new ways and products to ensure that they are using the very best technologies to improve patient safety.</p>
<p>Traditionally the underside of a patient wristband is an ideal environment for bacteria to grow.</p>
<p>They are often sweaty and not a place that is easily accessible with soaps or cremes and alcohol cleaning products. This invention will put a stop to the formation of bacteria in these places. It is a breakthrough that will help drastically in the fight against hospital bugs and super bugs.</p>
<p>To date no single product has come onto the wristband market that offers this kind, of protection.</p>
<p>The formulation can be applied to one side of the wristband or to both sides depending on the type of environment it is to be used in.</p>
<p>This invention is a method of enhancing an already proven way of identifying people to ensure that the wristband is not only a lifesaving requirement but that the wearing of it is not detrimental at all to the health and well being of the individual wearing it.</p>
<p>Dravis Fig I shows an exaggerated side impression of an identification wristband with the coating already applied to the surface and underside of it.</p>
<p>Material 2 is an exaggerated thickness on both the underside and topside of material 1.</p>
<p>Material I is the identification wristband.</p>
<p>Material 2 is the chemical coating that stops bacteria from growing.</p>
Claims (1)
- <p>Claims 1. This invention relates to identification wristbands, whichare coated with a product that contains a special formula, this chemical formula is both antibacterial and anti fungal and prevents bacteria from growing anywhere the chemical is applied, the formulated coating is applied to the wristband either during manufacture or at a later date, the final material has many different applications including hospital wristbands where there is a constant battle to ensure the spread of bacteria is prohibited and cleanliness is paramount.</p><p>2. A method is claimed in claim 1, wherein a chemical formulated coating is applied to a hospital style wristband.</p><p>3. A method is claimed in claim 2, wherein the new wristband created by the coating of a formulated chemical, results in a material that prevents bacteria from growing on it.</p><p>4. A method is claimed in claim 3, wherein the new wristband created by the coating of a formulated chemical claimed in claim 1, results in a product that may help to significantly reduce the number of instances that bacteria grows on the inside of a hospital style wristband.</p><p>5. A method is claimed in claim 4, wherein the new wristband created by the coating of a formulated chemical claimed in claim 1, may reduce the time a patient is in hospital by removing a potential breeding ground for bacteria.</p>
