Abstract
A device is adapted to protect the inner and outer surfaces of the mouth region of a cover for a vinyl record and to clean a record as it passes through the mouth in use. The device may wrap over the rim of the mouth of the cover so that parts 10.1 line its inner surfaces and parts 10.2 cover its outer surfaces. It may be formed by a strip 9 folded at its mid-length so that each half is fitted on one side of the mouth. It may comprise material having a brush-like or textured surface which can wipe clean the surfaces of the record. The inner parts 10.1 may also substantially seal the mouth so as to protect the record within the cover from the entry of debris. The device may be made in sizes corresponding to the standard sizes of vinyl gramophone records.
Description

I

Short Title: RECORD COVER PROTECTOR WiTH A RECORD CLEANER

Background:

Vinyl records have been in commercial and domestic use for many years. They are normally supplied with and stored in record covers and sometimes also have inner record sleeves. Normally the records are vinyl plastic, the record covers are card, and the inner sleeves paper or paper and plastic.

The present invention relates to the Record Cover Protector that can be attached and fitted on to all sizes of record covers. The invention provides protection to the opening side of the record cover.

The problem is that with use, the record cover can become damaged sometimes beyond repair, through use, wear and tear. This damage to the record cover can in turn damage the vinyl record. Damage to the record can detrimentally affect the sound quality, usability and value of the vinyl record.

The record cover and the inner sleeve can become worn, frayed, ripped, and in some cases beyond repair.

A further particular problem is that vinyl records require regular cleaning and protection in order to maintain their sound quality. Vinyl records if not cleaned or protected, and if not stored correctly, can become dusty, scratched, and damaged, thus losing their sound quality, usability and value.

A variant of the Record Cover Protector includes a Record Cleaner. When the vinyl record is placed into and removed from its cover, it passes over the surface of the Record Cleaner device. The Record Cleaner device acts as a cleaning surface, removing and protecting unwanted debris from vinyl records or from entering the record cover itself.

Essential features: The present invention is a device for protecting the opening and surrounding area of a record cover, protecting the inside and outside of the opening area by an inner lining and an outer lining. The Record Cover Protector with Record Cleaner is intended for all sizes of vinyl records and record covers, including all standard sizes of vinyl records 12" (279.4mm), 10" (254mm), and 7" (177.8mm).

The Record Cover Protector device attaches or is fitted to a record cover by gripping either with or without permanent fixing. )

The Record Cover Protector with Record Cleaner may grip a record cover by a fastening, suction, buttoning, strapping, tabbing, or tapping.

The essential feature of the variant the "Record Cleaner" is the additional device that cleans and protects any vinyl record by providing a surface over which the record passes and touches when it is placed into and removed from its record cover.

The Record Cleaner may be in the form of a brush, material or other textured surface intended for the purpose of cleaning a vinyl record.

The Record Cleaner is also intended to prevent debris from entering the record cover itself this feature may seal, zip, suction, or close tight.

The Record Cover Protector with Record Cleaner may be made from a range of different materials, of variant thicknesses, flexibilities, shapes, sizes, styles, colours, transparencies, and weights. This versatility in design still retains the core idea of a device to protect the opening end of a record cover (18, Figure 5) and contents stored within, allowing domestic users and commercials users to use the device in different environments from homes to record stores.

Record Cover Protector with Record Cleaner provides a solution to coding and filling, as it can be produced in different colours and shapes. The Record Cover Protector with Record Cleaner may have promotional space for labels, printing and unique customisation including, sockets or clips.

The Record Cover Protector with Record Cleaner may be produced in several separate pieces of material or may be made as one complete form.

Record Cover Protector with Record Cleaner may be made from a range of different materials including plastic, rubber, fabric, metal, wood, leather, manmade or natural fibre, or from a combination of any of these materials
