Abstract

A shelf system includes two sets of shelves arranged to be placed lengthwise along the internal walls of a vehicle such as a van. The two shelf sets are interconnected by a plurality of hinged elements that are collapsed to enable the assembly to be passed into the rear of a vehicle and subsequently straightened to force the two shelf sets into close engagement with the respective vehicle walls. The hinge elements are located both at the base of the shelves and at their uppermost level. The shelf assembly can be readily removed by collapsing the hinge elements to bring the two shelf sets towards each other to enable the assembly to be withdrawn without restriction. Mounting blocks 7 on the back face of the shelf sets engage with the walls of the vehicle.

<p>ITEM 1. END ELEVATION. Shows from the rear, invention folded closed in the van for installation. Arrows 5 indicate direction of travel of the hinged struts to install. Hinged struts connected to the base and top, front and rear travel vertically, hinged struts connected at the centre base and top travel horizontally. Arrows 6 indicate travel direction of shelf units.</p>

<p>QUICK SHELVES FOR VANS.</p>
<p>This invention consists of a shelving system which folds together to allow loading into the rear of a van through the back doors, when in the correct position the shelving systems hinged struts which connect the two shelf units together are opened out and then locked into position. Mounting blocks attached to the sides of the shelving assembly are now in contact with the sides of the van, securely holding the shelving system in place. The hinged struts are attached to the base and top of the two units at the front, rear and centre. The shelving units are custom made for each van model, allowing for side loading doors and any internal obstructions associated with that van.</p>
<p>Constructed using lightweight materials weight is kept to a minimum. When the van is replaced with the same make and model this invention ec easily be removed by unlocking the hinged struts folding the unit together aid withdrawing the unit out through the rear doors. The hinged struts are also adjustable to allow for the shelving system to be fitted correctly. A floor if required can be laid and fixed to the hinged struts at the base between the two shelving units adding strength. The shelves of each side unit are adjustable to allow for the required shelf height.</p>

    <p>QUICK SHELVES FOR VANS.</p>
    <p>1. A shelving system which folds together to pass through the rear doors of a van.</p>
    <p>2. As in claim 1, also with adjustable shelf heights.</p>
    <p>3. As in claim 1 and 2, when in correct position unfolds and hinged cross struts are locked in position.</p>
    <p>4. As in claim 1,2 and 3, hinged cross struts are adjustable.</p>
