Abstract

An exercise apparatus comprises an exercise bicycle bolted to a platform 1. The platform is connected to a lower platform by hinge plates (1, fig 2) so that the bicycle may tilt to the side in use. Springs 6 between the two platforms cushion the movement and return the platform to its horizontal position. A video display unit 2 is also provided, so that images may be displayed to simulate a journey.

Description

I

Steven David McClean 16-01-06 Tilting Exercise Bike Platform, with DVD/Video/T V/Moving image holder.

Description.

This is a platform, upon which a Propriety Exercise bike is bolted to, enabling the rider to tilt the bike slightly to the left or right, whilst watching a suitable film, i.e. a video taken from the front of a mountain bike, weaving through trees.

The platform is made of two parts. The upper plate, and the lower plate. The lower plate is larger than the upper plate, so as to stop any movement of the Platform. The lower plate has two hinge plates welded to it at either ends, and four blocks with springs between them. This plate could be bolted to the floor, to stop any movement whatsoever. The upper plate has two corresponding hinge plates, welded at either end, and these fit in between the two lower plate hinge blocks. The hinge plates have a central hole drilled, which when bolted together, allows the upper plate and lower plate to tilt side to side. The four spring blocks, attach to the upper and lower plates in each corner, restricting the tiling movement, and returning the upper plate to be level.

The upper plate will be drilled with many holes along the sides so as to be able to bolt the exercise bike to it, using suitable "U" bolts.

The DVD/ Video/TV/Moving image holder is welded to the front of the upper plate and therefore tilts with it. It is of box metal construction, coming out from the front of the upper plate and the flat screen is about the same height as the handle bars of the exercise bike.
