Abstract

A worktop 2 is provided for attachment onto a standard household Mobile Garbage Bin 1. The worktop may be firmly located to prevent movement relative to the bin using a number of tapered bosses (3, fig 3), secured and protruding from the underside of the worktop, which locate the worktop onto the inner walls of the open bin. A flat removable lid 4 with finger hole 5 may be provided for access into the bin, and may have an opening for the location of a flanged bowl (6, fig 3) or bucket (7, fig 3). The removable lid may be supported on the worktop via mild steel corner clips 12 providing a face for magnets 14 secured into the lid for the purpose of holding the lid in position when the worktop is removed and stowed away. The worktop may have a cut out handle 8 and two holes or hanging eyes 9 for vertical wall hanging when stowed away. The worktop may be engraved 10 for measuring in metric and imperial on two of its edges.

Description

This invention has evolved through the need for a safe working surface
when carrying out Do it yourself' or Tradesman' tasks on the uneven surface of a standard household Mobile Garbage Bin (MOB) also referred to as a Wheelie-bin'.

Foldable workbenches are well known, but suffer from the disadvantage of having attached leg supports, thus being relatively heavy and immobile. They lack work surface area, have a low down working position and are bulky for stowing away.

The object of this invention is to provide a light weight durable workbench, simple to stow away and suitable for securely fitting onto a standard household MOB or similar base unit support for safe usage. H may also be used to clamp on portable tooling or other

suitable devices.

Accordingly, this invention provides for all the requirements as stated above and is fitted Onto a standard household MOB with its lid fully open. The workbench is centred and !ccted to prevent movement;eitwc to tho bin usng a nmiei of tapered bosses protruding from the underside of the workbench which accurately locates the workbench onto the inner walls of the open bin.

Preferably the worktop is made from any durable recyclable material eg, plastic, fibreglass, marine plywood or similar.

A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE I shows End Elevation of the workbench; FIGURE 2 shows a Plan View of the workbench; FIGURE 3 shows the Front Elevation of the workbench; FIGURE 4 shows a Side View of the standard mobile household refuse bin with the As shown in Figure 4, the worktop (2) comprises a level work surface centred and located to prevent movement relative to the bin using a number of tapered bosses (3) which accurately locates the worktop onto the inner walls of the open bin. (1). Figure 4 As an option a flat removable lid (4) with finger hole (5) provides access into the bin and an opening for the location of a flanged bowl (6) or bucket (7). The removable lid is supported on the worktop via corner mild steel clips (12) providing a face for magnets (14) secured into the lid for the purpose of holding the lid in position when the worktop is removed and stowed away.

The workiop has a cut out handle (8) and two holes or hanging eyes (9) for vertical wall hanging when stowed away.

The worktop is engraved (10) for measuring in metric and imperial on the left hand edge and front edge, viewed from the front of the worktop.

It is to be understood that various additions, alterations and/or modifications may be made to the worktop description above without departing from the ambit of the invention.
