Abstract
A pet flap comprises a free swinging door 3 that is hinged at its top sides, the hinges 6 may be sprung 7 so as to allow vertical displacement of the door for locking purposes and whereby a locking system 4 can move the door downwards into a frame slot that accommodates it. The door's locking system may be located above the door and may be composed of two elements that lock or unlock the door by means of a locking handle. The handle may be connected to one of the two elements through an open slot in the face of the upper door frame. The door may comprise two parts hingedly collected.
Description

1. 2432613

TITLE

Animal Entry/Exit Safety -Angled Side Edge System

Specification

This invention comprises a door that can swing freely through 1800 and is hinged at its top edges.

Locking System for the Door The locking system is sited above the door and is composed of two elements sitting one above the other. Locking the door is achieved by sliding the top element to the left by means of a slideable control handle that protrudes from the element and through a slot in the top face of a door frame. As this top element is moved into its locking position, this pushes the door downwards so that its lower edge and angled sides converge within a slot in the inner side edges of the door frame.

The invention thus provides an animal entry/exit safety system in accordance with the Claims appended hereto. -My invention will now be described by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Drawing 1/3 Fig. IA Member 1 is the lock control handle and is connected to the top lock slide Member 4 through a lateral slot in the upper frame face.

Member 2 is the outer door frame.

Member 3 is the door that is shown in its locked downwards position.

Fig 2A Member 4 is the top element of the lock mechanism that has been moved into its door-unlocked position.

Member 5 is the lower complimentary element to Member 4.

Member 6 is the door hinge pin.

Member 7 is a spring which exerts an upwards pressure under the door hinge pin Member 6.

Member 3 is shown here in its raised unlocked position.

Member 8 is a continuous hinge.

Members 9 are the holding magnets on Members 2 and 3.

Member 10 is the void within the frame's inner edge that accommodates the edges of Member 3 when it is locked downwards.

Fig 3A This is a profile view of Member 2 showing Member 3 firstly in its locked down position, and secondly in its raised unlocked position.

Drawing 2/3 Fig 4A Member 11 is the inner frame void which accommodates the outer edges of Member 3 when it is locked downwards 2.

Fig 5A Member 1 is shown positioned to the left which locks the door Member 3 downwards, this is further indicated by Members 9 being at their closest position.

Drawing 3/3 Fig 6A Number 12 indicates the 1800 opening rage of door Member 3.

Fig. 7A Number 13 indicates the 280 pivotal range of the middle hinge of Member 3. 3.

Claims (1)
-
CLAIMS

1. An animal entry/exit safety system comprising a door of tapered configuration, wherein, when the door is moved into a locked position, side edge portions are accommodated in complimentary slots in a frame thereof.

2 An animal entry/exit safety system according to Claim I wherein the door is mounted for vertical displacement on resiliently mounted binges and whereby an overhead locking system can move the door downwards into its locked position, the door being of narrower width at a lower end portion thereof.

3. An animal entry/exit safety system according to Claim 2 wherein a locking mechanism is located above the top of the door.

4. An animal entry/exit safety system according Claim 3 wherein the locking mechanism is composed to two elements sitting one upon the other.

5. An animal entry/exit safety system according to Claim 4 wherein the mechanism is activated by sliding a higher one of the elements across a lower one thereof 6. An animal entry/exit safety system according to Claim 5 wherein the locking element is moved manually by a control handle that is connected to it via an open slot through an upper portion of the frame 7. An animal entry/exit safety system according to Claim 6 wherein when the lock control handle is moved to its unlock position, springs beneath hinges of the door return the door to ai upper unlocked position.
