Abstract

A double sun bed provides the option of independent varying reclining positions for two people whilst sharing the same unit. A section of the double sunbed is split into two parts 5 to provide movement. The underneath part of the sun bed is fitted with identical individual sets of grooves on the frame and each independent back rest has an attached support frame which can be slotted into the grooves to provide individual varying degrees of positioning, whilst enjoying the comfort of sharing one unit. A hole 10 in the middle of the double sunbed offers the option of a sun umbrella to provide mutual shade.

Description
This invention relates to a double sunbed to allow two people to relax in the sun side by side, with individual adjustable back rests, offering different reclining positions.
When two people currently relax in the sun they have tosition two sunbeds side by side. Often, if friends, family or couples are relaxing together they would prefer the intimacy and space of relaxing on one unit, without the restrictions of obstacles, i.e. gaps and arm rests. The restrictions can often be frustrating, especially if a couple wish to get intimate or feel close to each other. This can also apply to friends, whilst relaxing together. Often a parent and a small child might like to sit or lie down side by side with the comfort of being close to each other. The only current option is inconvenient in these desired circumstances.
To relax side by side without a sunbed, i.e. with a towel on the beach is an option but this does not allow different reclining positions.
To overcome this problem, the present invention proposes a sunbed big enough to allow two people to relax side by side with the choice of individual reclining positions.
The size of the double sunbed will allow two people to relax side by side which allows intimacy and convenience. It could be useful for friends, a parent with an infant or a couple. The individual reclining position feature offers choice and comfort to both parties.
Preferably, the double sunbed will have provision for a sun umbrella.

An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: - figure 1 shows a double sun bed, according to the invention, - figure 2 shows the individual adjustable back rests, in different reclining positions, according to the invention, - figure 3 shows the arrangement of how the individual back rests will be supported.
Double Sunbed The frame (1) and base (2) of the double sunbed is big and strong enough to support at least two adults. Legs are used for support (3). Two thirds of the double sunbed is solid and firmly attached to the frame (4). A third of the double sunbed which is the top end, where the backs will rest, is split into two equal parts (5), one part for each person using the double sunbed and hinged (6) to allow independent movement for different reclining positions. Behind each of the back rests there is an attached frame (7), which will slot into individual sets of grooved fixtures on the supporting part of the double sunbed (8) to provide different reclining positions for each person. The back rests of the separate sides of the double sunbed can then be raised or lowered, onto the grooves, depending on the individual desired positions.
The double sun bed provides the option of being used as a flat bed when both sides are fully reclined (9).
A suitable sized hole provided in the middle of the double sun bed gives the option of using a sun umbrella (10).

  1. Double Sunbed Claims 1. The double sunbed will allow two people to relax
    side by side with the Ihcility of independent adjustable back rests, offering different reclining positions.
  2. 2. A double sunbed in accordance with claim 1, with a hole in the middle of the bed to provide the option of a sun umbrella.
