Abstract

An electrical cable supporting and storing unit has a clip to support the unit at waist height of the user. The cable may be clamped by an open topped plastic sleeve 7 and supported by a plastic clasping arm 1. The clasping arm may also be used to store the electrical cable when it is not in use. The lower edge of the unit may be sharpened 8 to be used to scrap off debris from gardening equipment. The clasping arm may have a metal spring that forces the arm into engagement with the belt/clothing clip. The unit is designed to be used with garden equipment such as lawnmowers to stop the electrical cables from getting in the way.

Description

* 2430233 Electrical Cable Manipulation Device This invention relates to a
device which is supported at waist height on a person. It is attached by means of a clip to an item of clothing or belt.
When working with tools or machinery that are powered by an electrical cable supply, a lot of time and energy is used in keeping control of, and maneuvering the electrical cable. Most people keep control of the cable with one hand, even though most tools or machinery are designed to be used with both hands. To overcome this and reduce the amount of time and energy wasted the present invention proposes a electrical cable supporting and storing unit which is attached to a person at waist height by the means of a clip to an item of clothing or belt. The plastic device has a small supporting arm which securely carries the electrical cable. The device also has a clasping arm which allows the electrical cable to be stored away neatly. The clasping arm secures a coiled length of cable by using a metal spring which forces the arm tightly against the belt/clothing clip.
The lower edge of the belt/clothing clip is formed into a sharp leading edge which can be used as a scraper to remove debris from garden equipment etc. The Cable Manipulation Device will allow a person to use equipment with both hands whilst being able to easily locate and move the electrical cable. A person will therefore be able to work quicker, more safely and more efficiently.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a person using a lawn mower holding a cable in one hand.
Figure 2 shows a person using a lawn mower with a cable manipulation device attached to his left hand side.
Figure 3 shows front view of cable manipulation device.
Figure 4 shows rear view of cable manipulation device.
Figure 5 shows plan view of cable manipulation device.
Figure 6 shows side view of cable manipulation device.
Figure 7 shows front perspective view from one side of cable manipulation device.
In Figure 6 the clasping arm 1 and supporting arm 2 are attached by the means of a metal spring and rivet 4, to the belt! clothing clip 3. The metal spring and rivet allows the clasping arm to be closed tightly against the belt! clothing clip section. To open the clasping ann, pressure must be applied to the top of the belt! clothing clip section 5, and to the outer section of the cable supporting ann! sleeve 7. The cable is supported and can be manipulated when it is placed in the cable supporting arm! sleeve. The lower edge of the belt] clothing clip section is formed into a sharp leading edge 8 which can be used as a scraper to remove debris from gardening equipment etc.
