Abstract

A method of operating a water chiller (10) having a water tank (12), a cold water tap, and a condenser and fan (18). The chiller avoids freezing of the water in the tank (12) by switching between 'normal' and 'protection' operating modes. The switching is initially triggered by checking the length of time since the cold water tap was last operated.
