Abstract
A sheath arrangement, for storing and wearing a knife, comprises a holding portion, a belt loop and a handle portion. In addition to having a belt loop, the handle portion also comprises a top portion that helps to secure the knife, and also has a hole 1, to allow a karabiner / biner / snap links / cord to be inserted there through. A second hole 2 may be positioned at the base of the sheath, again allowing any of the aforementioned components to be inserted so as to secure the base of the sheath. The sheath is made from durable plastic material and can be securely attached to a user and/or other items.
Description
DESCRIPTION: Biner Knife Sheath Data Sheet PAGEj -
This Biner Knife Sheath has identified a needs for mountaineering & any activities employing the use of ropes. Consideration in design facilitates use in most environments especially where its quick retrieval is required even when wearing gloves and with one hand.
The Sheath: The sheath is made of a durable and easy to clean plastic. The base has an oval hole to enable the use of a karabjner or cord to help secure the sheath knife to other accessories on your kit belt or backpack thus reduce unwanted movement of your kit.
The knife holding sheath has a belt holding slot extending from it which runs the length of the handle. This is designed to enable the user to have this Biner Sheath securely worn or' a utility belt of standard size. The wearer should consider personal safety and not put it at the front of such a belt but consider wearing to ones side between other utility pouches but enabling access to it to suit individual need appropriately.
There is no reasonable reason to wear or carry such a knife in a built up area or other such inappropriate unlawful setting.
At the top of the above mentioned utility belt slot is a more solid protruding knife retaining block which is designed to help retain the knife in its sheath as it protrudes over the end of the handle but does not obstruct the user by use of one hand pulling the handle away from the back of the sheath and upwards and forwards for the use there of. Having the knife securely attached to oneself is important. In addition it has been identified that securing such a knife to backpacks can be a problem including for mountaineering. Therefore the knife retaining block at the top of the handle also has an oval hole in it to facilitate the use of a karabiner (or cord) to help secure the knife/torch to a backpacks sternum strap, for example.
(Karabiner also commonly known as: biner, krabs, snap links) Biner Sheath Care: Be aware that the sheath is empty of water and dry before storing your knife away between trips. The Biner Sheath is strong and durable plastic although it should not be used a hammer or other purposes for which it is not built.
The Biner Sheath is made of thick durable plastic which makes it easy to wash clean and with the biner hole on the base hangs upside down to dry its inside as well.
