Abstract

A skipping rope comprises two handles with a rope fixed between them. Each handle has a nut and bolt which, when loosened, allows the handle to slide along the rope. When the desired length is reached the nut and bolt is tightened.

Description

Adjustable Skipping rope The common problem with standard skipping ropes
is that they are not sold in a lot of different lengths. They are generally sold in one average children's size and one average adult's size. Therefore smaller children and adults frequently have to wrap the ends of the skipping rope around their hands so it is at a suitable length for them. This can leave unwanted red marks and be to some extent painful.
This problem can be solved! This skipping rope that I have designed and tested can easily be adjusted to different heights to suit different people's heights.
The advantages of my development are that people will be able to enjoy skipping comfortably with a skipping rope at the right height for them. Another benefit is that if there is a child and an adult living in the same house, only one skipping rope needs to be bought. Also children will be able to keep the same skipping rope as they grow taller.
Figure 1 shows the skipping rope at its longest height. Figure 2 shows the skipping rope being adjusted to a smaller length to suit smaller children and adults. This is done by twisting the bolts on the handles clockwise, to loosen the bolts. Then you pull the handles down the skipping rope. When it is at the correct length you twist the bolts anti- clockwise to tighten the bolt.

Claims (3)

  1. Claims 1. This skipping rope has nuts and bolts on the handles, which when
    twisted clockwise loosen the handles.
  2. 2. Then when the handle is dragged down the skipping rope the skipping rope shortens in length then the bolt should be twisted to tighten the handle, anti- clockwise ready for shorter people to use.
  3. 3. This skipping rope can be used by people of many different heights.
