A tool head 2 having a fitting section and a tool section 12 distal from each other are also present; the fitting section 21 being fitted in the socket 14 of the tube body 1, and a retainer ring 3 fitted on the fitting section of the tool head 2. The retainer ring 3 is arranged to tightly abut against a wall of the socket of the tube body 1, so that the tube body 1 and the tool head 2 are fixed to one another. The fitting section 21 may be bent from the tool section 12 and the tool section 12 can comprise a ratchet head.

Description

TELESCOPIC LOCATING STRUCTUR} FOR A TOOL
Background of the Invention
The present invention relates to a telescopic locating structure for a tool.
When using a leverage to operate a wrench, etc., it often takes place that a user has difficulty applying a sufficient force to wrench a screwed member. In order to overcome this problem, some wrenches are composed of a tube body and a working stem telescopically fitted in the tube body for adjusting the length of the arm of application force.
Fig. 6 shows a conventional telescopic locating structure of a tool, including a tube body 7 and a working stem 8. The tube body 7 is fbrmed with a socket 71 in which the working stem 8 is fitted. The working stem 8 is tbrmed with a dent 81 in which a spring 9 and a locating member 91 are disposed. The spring 9 serves to push the locating member 91 to protrude from the dent 81 and abut against the wall 711 of the socket 71.
A user can forcedly pull and extend the working stem 8 outward from the socket 71 or retract the working stem 8 into the socket 71. Thereafter, the locating member 91 is engaged with one side of the waIl 711 of the socket 71 so as to locate the tube body 7 with the working stem 8. However, actually, some shortcomings exist in such a structure as follows: 1. The locating member 91 cannot exert an even force onto the tube body 7.
Therefore, the tube body 7 and the working stem 8 are difficult to smoothly adjust in length.
2. The locating member 91 applies a force onto the tube body 7 at one point so that it is difficult for the tube body 7 to be truly located with the working stem 8.
3. In the case that the elastic coefficient of the spring 9 is increased to enhance the pushing force of the locating member 91, the wall 711 of the socket 71 of the tube body 7 is quite easily worn out by the locating member 91.
Summary of the Invention
It is therefore a primary object of the present invention to provide a telescopic locating structure for a tool, including a tube body having a socket, a tool head having a fitting section and a retainer ring fitted on the fitting section of the tool head. When the fitting section is fitted in the socket of the tube body, the retainer ring tightly abuts against a wall of the socket of the tube body. When adjusting the length of the arm of force, a user can pull and extend the tube body and the tool head from each other. Thereafter, the retainer ring is tightly engaged with the wall of the socket so as to truly locate the tube body with the tool head. The tool head has different sizes and is foldable to save room. In addition, the tool head can have different tool sections according to different requirements.
According to the above object, the telescopic locating structure for the tool of the present invention includes: a tube body having a grip section for a user to hold and formed with a socket; a tool head having a fitting section and a tool section distal from each other, the circumference of the fitting section being formed with an annular groove, the fitting section being fitted in the socket of the tube body; and a retainer ring locating in the annular groove of the fitting section of the tool head to tightly abut against a wall of the socket of the tube body, whereby the tube body and the tool head are fixed with each other.
Brief Description of the Drawings
The present invention can be best understood through the following description and accompanying drawings wherein: Fig. I is a perspective exploded view of an embodiment of the present invention; Fig. 2 is a partially sectional view showing that the tool section is a ratchet head and the fitting section of the tool head is fitted in the socket of the tube body; Fig. 3 is a partially sectional view according to Fig. 2, showing that the tool head is extended outward from the tube body; Fig. 4 is a partially sectional view showing that the tool section is a fitting head and the fitting section is bent from the tool section; Fig. 5 is a partially sectional view showing that the tool section has a multiangularly rotatable connector; and Fig. 6 is a partially sectional view of a conventional telescopic locating structure of a tool.
Detailed Description of the Preferred Embodiments
Referring to Figures 1 to 3, according to a first embodiment, the tool of the present invention is a ratchet wrench for wrenching a screwed member. The ratchet wrench includes a tube body 1, a tool head 2 and a retainer ring 3.
The tube body 1 has a first end section 11 and a second end section 12 distal from each other. The first end section 11 has a grip section 13 for a user to hold. The second end section 12 is formed with a socket 14.
The tool head 2 has a fitting section 21 and a tool section 22 distal from each other. In this embodiment, the tool section 22 is a ratchet head. The circumference of the fitting section 21 is formed with an annular groove 211. The fitting section 21 can be fitted into the socket 14 of the tube body 1.
The retainer ring 3 is a C-shaped retainer ring in this embodiment. The retainer ring 3 is located in the annular groove 211 of the fitting section 21 to tightly abut against the wall 141 of the socket 14 of the tube body 1. Accordingly, the tube body I is fixed with the tool head 2.
When adjusting the length of the arm of force, a user can pull and extend the tube body I and the tool head 2 from each other. The retainer ring 3 is tightly engaged with the wall 141 of the socket 14 so that the tube body I can be truly fixed with the tool head 2. In addition, the frictional force between the retainer ring 3 and the wall 141 of the socket 14 is evenly distributed over the circumference of the retainer ring 3. Therefore, the user can extend or retract the tool head 2 more smoothly. Moreover, the contact area between the retainer ring 3 and the wall 141 of the socket 14 is enlarged so that a better locating effect is achieved.
Fig. 4 shows a second embodiment of the present invention, in which the fitting section 21 is bent from the tool section 22 by a predetermined angle. The tool section 22 is a fitting head.
In the case that the operation space is narrow or it is difficult to operate the tube body 1, a user can use the second embodiment to facilitate operation. The fitting head can be assembled with different sizes of sockets according to actual requirement.
Fig. 5 shows a third embodiment of the present invention, in which the tool section 22 has a multiangularly rotatable connector 222 pivotally connected with the tool section 22 via a pivot shaft 221. By means of the connector, a user can adjust the angle of the tool section 22 as necessary to work on a work piece.
The above embodiments are only used to illustrate the present invention, and are not intended to limit the scope thereof Many modifications of the above embodiments can be made without departing from the spirit of the present invention.
