AIR PURIFIER WITH A COOLING AND HEATING UNIT
This invention relates to an air purifier with a cooling and heating unit Air filters are very well known devices which comprise a filtering element and an appropriate ventilator. The filtering element of the device is commonly made of sponge or other comparable material. It is the component which is responsible for removing dusts or undesired fine particles from the air. The ventilator usually contains a fan piece which blows air through the filtering element. All unwanted particles stick on the sponge material as long as air is in circulation. The entire system has to be cleaned from time to time in order to keep working efficiently.
Air filters are, however, relatively difficult to be cleaned as fine particles from the air are firmly attached in contact with the filtering element. Moreover, the ventilator produces dry air due to a comprehensive dependence of the system on the original humidity of the air.
According to the present invention there is provided an air purifier comprising a filtering element with a water container and a ventilator component with cooling features. The filtering subsystem is adapted to overcome the difficulties of prior filters. It contains a sponge cloth to remove large particles and a bent tube with holes in a water box where air bubbles are formed for a better extraction of powdery or fine unwanted dust. The ventilator subsystem consists of a spiral inner tube occupied with small sheets of stainless steel to reduce water vapor and a cooler or heater unit for refreshing the air and for humidity control.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the complete intended air purifier system with various details; Figure 2 illustrates the ventilator subsystem with distinct parts; and Figure 3 displays the electronic circuit diagram.
Referring to the drawing presented in Figure 1 the air purifier system comprises a case 13, air inlet 18 and air outlet 1, a water level meter 11 in order to give an indication of the amount of water inside the water container 5, an upper valve 12 for adding water and a lower valve 10 for removing water. The sponge cloth 17 will stop large particles from going through the tube 16. Then, the nearly clean air will pass the rubber piece 9 and travel to the bent inner tube 8 within the water container 15. As illustrated, the bent inner tube 8 is designed to have several small holes under the water surface 7. Here, the air will begin to leave the holes forming small air bubbles 6. All powdery dust and fine particles will be attached to the water resulting in a purified air. Holes should be small enough in order to generate very small air bubbles. Many chemical materials could be added to the water for more purification or refreshment. Moreover, filtering can be accomplished for toxic gases provided some determined chemicals are added to the water. Ventilation process starts when both the air and water vapor travels through the rubber piece 4 to the spiral tube 3 which is cooled or heated by the subsystem 14. The temperature sensor 19 can detect the desired degree and make automatic operation of the complete system through the control panel 5. The clean air is then moved to the air chamber 22 by the fan 2, shall 21 and motor 20 to the outlet 1.
In Figure 2, the spiral tube is occupied by a stainless steal leaf to intensify the vapor to water drops.
The motor 20 is electrically connected by wires 31 and 32. The sensor probe 19 is also connected by wires 23 and 24. In Fig 2 the cooler subsystem utilizes the Peltier effect. When a DC current goes through the wires 24 connected to two junctions 23 and 25, junction 23 is cooled and junction is warmed. Note that both junctions are connected to a p - leg 22 and an n - leg 21. The cool junction is attached to the spiral tube in order to cool the air for refreshment and to reduce water vapor. The cooling or heating unit is made of PN junctions or two different metals 27 and 28. It is based on the thermoelectric conversion or Peltier effect. The junctions 25 and 26 are heated or cooled according to the direct current (DC) connected to the wires 29 and 30. If cooling is intended then junction 25 should cooled by connecting the wire 29 to the negative DC current. Otherwise, junction 25 can be heated by connecting the wire 29 to the positive DC current.
The circuit diagram for the panel controller 5 is shown in Figure 3. A dual polarity switch 35 is connected to the wires 33 and 34 and as shown it can alter the electrical polarity connected by wires 29 and 30 for cooling or heating. The temperature sensor 19 is enabled by a conditioning circuit 38 for proper operation to wires 23 and 24. The dual polarity switch 35 is also connected to a diode bridge 36 which can keep the electrical polarity for the light emitting diode (LED) 37. The change in polarity is indicated by the LEDs 38 and 39 for cooling or heating. The variable resistor 40 is to control the current intensity going to the junctions 25 and 26 by wires 29 and 30 to vary the degree of cooling or heating. Similarly, the variable resistor 41 is to control the current intensity going to the fan motor 20 by wires 31 and 32 to adjust the fan speed.
