Abstract
A trowel and measuring tape holder that has a belt loop k and leg strap g to secure the holder to the user in a similar manner to a holster that is pivotal to allow flexibility of the holder to allow the wearer to move naturally and has drainage means to allow the escape of moisture. Preferably the back of the holder is strengthened by ridges b that may glide the trowel into place and prevent the trowel from sticking to the holder and a front retainer d to hold the trowel in place. The retainer may have a lip f and drainage hole e to prevent the build up of debris. The measuring tape may be held in place by a metal clip 1 at the top of the holder.
Description
TROWEL AND MEASURING TAPE HOLDER
This invention relates to a bricklayer's trowel holder, where the user can carry a trowel and a tape measure, leaving their hands free, but the trowel and tape on their person at all times.
When working with a trowel, a bricklayer has to continually put it down, in order to cut, lift and position materials. This means that the trowel becomes misplaced or out of reach, and the user has to continually bend or reach to relocate it, wasting time and effort.
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a holster type holder, fixed at the bricklayer's outer thigh, which keeps the trowel and tape measure within reach at all times. The trowel and tape can be extracted from and stored in the holder with minimum time and conscious effbrt.
The trowel holder will preferably be attached to a belt around the user's waist, and have some kind of tie around the lower thigh. The holder will lie along the length of the user's outer thigh.
Preferably the holder will be made from strong, lightweight and flexible material, with a drainage hole at the bottom and a drip at the front of the holder. The back piece of the holder will have strengthening ridges, which will also serve to prevent the trowel from sticking.
There will probably be a pivot between the belt attachment and the retaining piece so that the wearer can move naturally.
The holder will have a clip at the top of the belt attachment where a tape measure can be carried.
The holder can be used on either side of the body.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: - Figure 1 shows an empty holder.
- Figure 2 shows the holder in use.
- Figure 3 shows a profile of the holder.
The trowel shaped holder back (a) has strengthening ridges (b) which also serve to help the trowel slide smoothly into place, without it sticking to the surface. Two support strips (c) located one on each side of the holder give the holder the required width. The back piece (a) is secured to the support strips (c) which in turn are secured to the retaining front piece (d). The back piece (a), the support strips (c), and the retainer (d), are all to be made from the same material. The drainage hole (e) will allow any moisture or debris to escape. The top edge of the retaining piece (d) will have a small drip (O so that as the trowel is slipped into the holder, most of the moisture will be caught and dripped off the front of the retainer (d).
The lower part of the trowel holder will be held in place by ties (g). These ties will be made of soft but strong flexible material and will be attached through the eyelets (h) on the sides of the holder. The ties can be tied around the user's leg.
The belt attachment strap (i) is made from flexible, durable material, It is fixed to the holder by a metal pivot (j). The strap (i) will have belt loops (k) at the top end of it. At the top of the attachment strap will be a metal clip (I) which will hold the tape measure. This will be secured by metal rivets.
