Abstract

An apparatus for inverting and cleaning beverage cans of varying sizes and made from steel or aluminium, comprises a perforated acetyl belt on which the cans are supported. Whilst supported thereon the cans are inverted and pass over a series of manifolds of ionised air and are then returned to the upright position. The cans are held in place on the belt by suction induced by 3 vacuum fans, and permanent ceramic magnets. Under the apparatus are catch trays to catch debris from the cans, and the exhaust ducts of the fans are provided with filters.

Description

MEC-A-TEC SERVICES LTD
MASS CAN INVERTER & CAN CLEANER
Description
Background:
A conventional can cleaning system uses water and single lane gravity track work.
The drawbacks with this system are; the usage of water, potential bacterial growth, suitability and adjust times for different can sizes and poor operating efficiency.
Problem: To overcome the drawbacks an adjusting mechanism has been designed to cater for all can sizes and a mass air cleaning system.
Essential Features: This unit is designed to convey beverage cans of varying diameters and height in steel or aluminium, in mass, with increased line hygiene and efficiency,
Introduction to the Drawing:
Schematic drawing, reference, J34 16/016, is of side elevation view, showing the principle used to invert and clean empty cans in mass formation.
Particular Example:
Inverting the cans I 8Odegrees with open end downward and conveying them over a series of ionised air manifolds, then revert 1 80degrees so the open end is upward and continue conveyance in mass. (See Drawing J3416/016)

MASS CAN INVERTER & CAN CLEANER Claim This unit is designed to convey beverage cans of varying diameters and height in steel or aluminium in mass using a perforated acetyl belt.
Inverting them 1 8Odegrees with open end downward, in this orientation convey them over a series of ionised air manifolds then revert 1 8Odegrees so the open end is upward and continue conveyance in mass.
Can's are held in position by 3 vacuum fans and permanent ceramic magnets.
Vacuum fans have filters fitted in their exhaust ducts so not to release any debris into the atmosphere.
Catch trays are positioned between ionising manifold to catch any debris from the cans. z
