Abstract

A real-time, interactive, distributed game involves a server and multiple clients. The clients are connected to the server by one or more communications networks. Each client includes a skin having a multimedia player providing screen access on multiple data input keys for signalling corresponding game input events to update a game score for that client; and a real-time graphical display showing updated game scores for multiple different clients; in comparison with one another. The client further includes a client communications facility for transmitting game input events to the server and for receiving updated game scores from the server. The server includes a server communications facility for receiving game input events from the clients and for transmitting updated game scores to the clients. The server further includes a game controller for saving client game input events received from the clients into a database for maintaining a set of game scores for the clients. The game scores are updated in accordance with the game input events received from the clients.
