Abstract
A notelet holder which comprises a magnetic card-like element with a notelet secured to it or capable of being contain within it. The card-like element is likened to a "fridge-magnet" and able to be affixed and held onto any metallic surface. The notelet is foldable and secured by adhesive to the card-like element. The card-like element 100 my be provided with a pocket opening 114 along one side allowing for the insertion of the folded notelet 112. The notelet holder may be decorated with any kind of design.
Description
-1- 2425952 Notelet holder.
The invention relates to a notelet holder, in particular but not necessarily for domestic use.
In most households a required telephone number, for example, may generally be found by referring to a local telephone directory or to a trade directory.
However, those telephone numbers used most often, and/or those which may be needed in an emergency, may be noted down and kept in a special place, the only difficulty then being that notes made in this way tend to be misplaced, and if there are several people in the household, perhaps including teenage children, such a list of numbers may become somewhat extensive and unwieldy.
In addition, notes made in this way and placed in some place which is easily accessible to everyone in the family are never likely to be tucked away in a neat and tidy fashion.
It is thought that there is a need for a notelet holder which can be used in a wide variety of ways but which, for example, might be used to advantage in the situation just described.
According to the invention there is provided a notelet holder which in a stored condition is a so-called fridge magnet, that is to say an impregnated or coated card-like element with magnetic properties whereby it is capable of being attached, by magnetic attraction, to a domestic refrigerator, there being either a notelet secured to, or capable of being contained within, said card-like element.
The notelet may be folded and secured by adhesive to a rear surface of the relatively thin card-like element so that in use it can be opened to display a number of items of information and so that, after having been used, it can be again folded to conceal only a central portion of the magnetic element.
Alternatively, the card-like element may be made relatively thicker and have a pocket opening along one edge for the insertion of a notelet, the latter in this case being folded in such a way that when contained within the card-like element there is a small portion of the notelet visible and able to be gripped for extraction from said pocket. In either case, the front face of the holder may be decorated with any preferred kind of design, photograph or picture in the manner of conventional fridge magnets.
In order that the invention may be frilly understood and readily carried into effect, preferred embodiments will now be described by way of example only.
In the accompanying drawings:- Figure 1 is a perspective view on the rear of a first notelet holder, the notelet being shown about to be opened, and Figure 2 is a view on the front of the holder in use and storing the notelet, Figure 3 is a view of a second notelet holder in use, Figure 4 is a semi-diagrammatic sectional view on the line 4 - 4 in Figure 3 with the notelet removed, and Figures 5 and 6 are diagrammatic illustrations which will be referred to when describing possible modifications.
Referring now to Figures 1 and 2, the notelet holder there illustrated is constituted by an impregnated or coated plastic card-like element 10 with magnetic properties whereby it is capable of being attached, by magnetic attraction, to a domestic refrigerator. (A front face of the element 10 may carry any kind of attractive and colourful design, picture or photograph in the manner of well known so-called "fridge magnets" generally available). A notelet 12, which is made of a relatively thin paper, is shown in this case to be foldable twice, that is to say along lines A andB to form four separate areas which can be viewed when the notelet is opened. An underside of one of the areas just referred to is secured by an adhesive to a central area on the rear surface of the cardlike element 10. Thus it will be seen that, when folded, the notelet lies wholly well within the area of the element 10 so that the latter, being fairly flexible, can be attached securely to a refrigerator (or of course to the surface of any other convenient ferrous object).
Referring now to Figures 3 and 4, the notelet holder there illustrated is somewhat different in that the element 100 which is capable of being attached, by magnetic attraction, to a refrigerator for example, is completely separate from the notelet 112. As shown, said notelet in this particular illustration is of a somewhat larger size and is shown to be able to be folded three times, that is to say along lines A, B and C, to provide eight separate areas on which notes may be made or pre-printed. It is somewhat thicker when folded than before.
Consequently, the element 100 has been made somewhat thicker with a pocket 114 opening along an upper edge of the element for the insertion of the folded notelet. As shown in Figure 3, when the notelet has been folded and placed within the pocket 114, a small portion of the notelet is visible and able to be gripped (perhaps only when the holder has been detached from the refrigerator or other surface) for extraction from said pocket.
In Figure 4 there is illustrated the way in which the element 100 has been constructed, that is to say with front and rear card-like elements and one or more spacer elements 116 of substantially U-shape sandwiched between them to create the pocket 114, the laminations being secured together by adhesive.
However, it will be understood that there are numerous ways in which such an element may be constructed. For example, in Figures 5 and 6 there is illustrated an example of how a single card-like element could be folded to create the required pocket. (The laterally spaced areas of the card blank shown in Figure are intended to be folded inwards, the card being slit along the horizontal lines and creased along the vertical lines so that in the finished article there are laterally spaced areas 118 which can be attached by magnetic attraction to a refrigerator and angled fingers 120 which will, in effect, prevent a notelet falling through the pocket 114). Various other methods of construction may be devised for a magnetic card-like element with a relatively narrow pocket as previously described.
Thus there is provided a notelet holder which it is thought will be especially useful in the home, for example for noting the telephone numbers of local shops and takeaways and/or those of friends and relatives. In a household having several Sons and/or daughters it may be especially useful for each to have his or her personal notelet holder each one being easily recognizable by the design or picture on its face.
The invention may well be a useful marketing tool. For example, the notelet holder could be distributed free of charge to households together with the telephone numbers and other details of local traders subscribing to the service.
Claims (5)
- Claims I. A notelet holder which, in a stored condition, is a so-calledfridge magnet, that is to say an impregnated or coated card-like element with magnetic properties whereby it is capable of being attached, by magnetic attraction, to a domestic refrigerator, there being either a notelet secured to, or capable of being contained within, said card-like element.
- 2. A notelet holder according to claim 1, in which the notelet is foldable and secured by adhesive to a rear surface of the relatively thin card-like element so that, in use, when the holder has been removed from the refrigerator, said notelet can be opened to display a number of items of information and, after having been used, it can be again folded to conceal only a central portion of the magnetic element whereby the holder can be returned to its stored location and : :: again retained there by magnetic attraction. I IS*
