Abstract

A pair of bed frames (or other members) are linked by a joining member A which has opposed projections extending into sockets provided in members B and C to be mounted on the frames. The projections have extensions D and E which allow the projections to engage into the sockets in one orientation of the member A but which resist removal when the member has been rotated in the sockets by a quarter-turn to the orientation shown. The joint is suitable for a number of other uses where members are required to be joined together e.g. fences, barriers, panels, advertising boards, office furniture and shelving.

DESCRIPTION
DIVAN LINK ASSEMBLY
The divan link assembly (primary function) is a means by which it makes the joining of two or more bed frames an easy operation, enabling those single units to become double or triple, etc. There will always be the need for a facility either in hotels, guest houses and in the ordinary home where a bedroom, be it large or small, will require beds that are compatible to people's situation (personal or preference) at certain times and this invention can make this easier to achieve.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows a front elevation, side elevation and an exploded view of the divan link assembly.
Current design of linking mechanisms are not always easy to see or line up. However, with this new type of divan link assembly the whole operation becomes much easier.
That is to say, it is more accessible, quick to operate and strong in design. Ideal for commercial use where the speedy separation and rejoining of beds are required for cleaning or change of facility and use as needed.
Further to the above, the device has, by its basic design, suitability for other uses. The simple insertion, locate and turn operation gives a wider scope allowing the ability to join together items with flat sides quickly and efficiently without the use of tools or intense training. It can be adapted to a lot more situations, for example: 1. Joining temporary fences/barriers 2. Assembling large frame advertising boards 3. Stage back-drop panels The above description is best understood with the accompanying drawings to show full function and fitment of this device.

Claims (7)

  1. cLAIMS
    DIVAN LINK ASSEMBLY
What Is Claimed 1) The divan link assembly is primarily for the achievement of holding rigidly together divans or, if required, multiples of divans with flat sides in a quick and efficient way.
  2. 2) It is inherently strong in the design configuration by the interference of the T' pins (D & E) against the back surface of the keyway flange (B & C).
  3. 3) The divan link/lock assembly design means that it can be easily operated without specialized training or the need for any tools, by employing the method of a 90 rotation after initial key link insertion into keyway flange allows simple quick and efficient assembly /disassembly by one person.
  4. 4) According to claim 2) this link/lock configuration is inherently strong by design and if deemed suitable may be used or applied to other items or assemblies that require being putlassembled together with flat sides in an efficient manner.
(For example: metal square tube fencing posts, flat end/sided trailer panels, theatre prop back drop/panels, suitable office furniture, storage shelving to name a few).
  5. 5) According to claim 4) this link/lock can be versatile to suit other suitable applications plus according to claim 3) being quick and efficient allowing a speedy connection method, thus, it's design gives appropriate thought towards being as unobtrusive as possible due to it's narrow configuration so as to fit between flat type surfaces complimenting the desired effect of close assembly.
  6. 6) According to claim 3) this link device employs a method of 90 turn to achieve the desired effect of holding or locking together in an efficient way, this for the primary use on divan frames relies on gravity acting on the key link handle to remain in a downwards position thereby attaining and maintaining the interference or lock effect.
  7. 7) When applying this link device to other suitable applications (especially where movement or vibration is present) a further fixing or catch may be required on the thumb twist, at the base of the divan link key assembly (A) Use Figure 1
