Abstract

A portable baby bath unit comprises a baby bath 4 with a plug hole 6 that fits over an adult bath so that it can be filled by existing bath taps 7, a padded changing mat 5 that fits along side the baby bath over the adult bath and a storage basket to hold the necessary bathing equipment. The baby bath and changing mat may have recesses 10 and 11 on their undersides to hold the bath and mat firmly in position over the adult bath. The baby bath may also have a recess 12 to allow the bath to be filled by the adult bath taps 7 and may also be used as a handle when the bath and changing mat are clipped together by the outer raised ridge 9. When the baby bath and changing mat are clipped together, the storage basket may be placed between them for storage. Preferably the changing mat is slightly sunken in the centre to prevent the baby from rolling off.

Background

This invention relates to a portable baby bath & padded changing matt with a removable inner storage basket.

When a baby is bathed it maybe (a) in an adult bath (b) in a baby bath placed inside an adult bath or (c) in a baby bath placed on a stand or table, with the changing mat being placed either on the floor or on the table next to the bath.

Meaning the parents have for (c), to cany buckets oft & cold water to fill the bath, or cany the bath already full of water to the stand or table. After the baby is bathed there is a similar problem when emptying the baby bath.

This is all backbreaking for the parent not only because of the poor design & poor positioning of the present equipment available, but also due to the restricted space in most modem bathrooms today.

Parent often fmed they have forgotten some vital equipment needed for washing their baby, amongst these the changing matt is the most common left behind in the nursery followed by items of washing equipment.

Statement of Invention

To overcome these problems, the present invention proposes a portable baby bath with plughole for drainage which fits over an adult bath & slips under the taps for easy filling, the padded changing matt fits along side & a removable inner storage basket holds all the necessary bathing equipment (cotton wool, baby wash, powder, toys, ect), needed for washing the baby.

Advantages This allows parent to sit or kneel comfortably at the adult bath whilst preparing the baby on the changing mat before gently moving the baby across to the bath.

This has the advantage of taking place in one area & on one level, with access to hot & cold running water with drainage.

There would be no heavy carrying & lifting involved or any uncomfortable stretching, the baby washing equipment would be at hand in the storage basket.

Detailed description

The portable baby bath 4 with plughole 6 for drainage & padded changing mat 5 are securely held in position over the adult bath by the recesses 10 & 1 irespectively. These are the base of the portable baby bath & the under inner sides of the padded changing mat. Recess 12 is designed for two purposes firstly, to allow easy filling of the portable baby bath from the adult bath taps 7 secondly, as a handle when the portable baby bath & padded changing mat are clipped together by the outer raised ridge 9 for easy storing.

The portable baby bath & inner recoverable storage basket 8; this contains all the necessaly equipment needed for bathing the baby, are consiructed of a vezy strong polypropylene plastic with easy clean surface.

The changing matt is constructed of the same polypropylene plastic with easy clean surface apart from the padded area 13, this is constructed of form covered with a softer thinner but equally strong easy clean plastic surface. This area is slightly sunken in the centre to prevent the baby from rolling off during the bathtune procedures.

Claims

Claims I A portable baby bath unit comprising of a baby bath that fits

over an adult bath & slips under the taps for easy filling with a plughole for drainage, having the padded changing malt along side & the removable inner storage basket that holds all the necessaly bathing equipment.

2 A portable baby bath unit according to claim 1, in which the parents can sit or kneel at the adult bath comfortably, whilst preparing & bathing the baby.

3 A portable baby bath unit according to claim i, in which it allows for everything to takes place in one area & on one level, with access to hot & cold running water plus drainage.

4 A portable baby bath unit according to claim i, in which it would mean no heavy canying or lifting involved or any uncomfortable stretching, A portable baby bath unit according to claim i, in which the baby's washing equipment would be at hand in the storage basket.

6 A portable baby bath unit according to claim 1, in which when not in use can be clip together with the inner removable storage basket neatly inside.
