Abstract

A handle attached to the underside of a toilet seat by a block 1. The block 1 is attached to a rest 2 which rests against the exterior of the toilet bowl. The handle 4 is on a hinge 3 attached to the rest 2. The handle 4 rotates 90 degrees before locking.

Description

I
TOILET SEAT HANDLE
This invention consists of a handle which can be attached to the underside of a toilet seat.
Having to touch a toilet seat when lifting or lowering it spreads germs and is an unpleasant task.
This invention solves the problem of having to touch the seat when you lift or lower it, as no part of the actual handle touches the toilet.
The features of this invention are a handle attached to a hinge, the other side of which is attached to a block and a rest. The block is screwed to the underside of the toilet seat and the rest sits against the toilet bowl. The handle can only rotate 90 degrees on the hinge so it effectively locks into place when lifted or dropped.
This device could be made from any strong, durable material: wood, metal, plastic, ceramic, or a combination of the above, it could be made in a variety of finishes and colours to successfully accessorise with the bathroom.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the handle fixed to a toilet seat so that the location is clear; Figure 2 shows the handle in its downward resting position; Figure 3 shows the handle in its upward position.
As shown in figures 2 and 3, the handle comprises a block I which screws to the underside of the toilet seat. This block is attached to one end of the rest 2. The rest 2 sits against the toilet bowl to give the device stability. The other end of the rest 2 is attached to a hinge 3. A handle 4 is attached to the hinge 3. The handle can be used to lift and lower the toilet seat. The hinge 3 can only rotate 90 degrees before it locks. This ensures that, when the handle 4 is lifted, it is comfortable and easy to use and, when dropped, it does not touch the toilet bowl.

Claims (3)

1. A handle on a hinge with a maximum rotation of 90 degrees which can be attached to the underside of a toilet seat.
2. A handle as claimed in Claim 1 where the hinge includes a block and a rest; the purpose of the block is to fix the device to the underside of a toilet seat & the purpose of the rest is to prevent the handle touching the toilet.
3. A handle, as claimed in Claims 1 & 2 which is made from wood, metal, plastic, ceramic, or a combination of these materials.
